- When people like shitty voice acting in general, not just in DB.
- When people like horribly added dub-only lines that neither are clever nor funny nor fit the characters, not just in DB.
- When people say Kikuchi is worse than Faulconer or Yamamoto.

So it pisses you off when other people don't share your opinions, then? Because that's really what all of the above amounts to.Singh is King wrote:- When people like shitty voice acting in general, not just in DB.

To a strong man, the end justifies the means. To a stronger man, the means justify the end.

That's essentially what the entire thread boils down to. Some people just decided to dance around it (myself included).johnboy1 wrote:So it pisses you off when other people don't share your opinions, then? Because that's really what all of the above amounts to.

For me, it's possibly the strangest, and call me obsessive for it, but for me it's saying Yamcha is a bad character, or that Yamcha lost to a Saibaman. There's also when people constantly repeat the same TFS quotes on a DBZ-related video.
For one thing, strength doesn't equal character. Just because Yamcha isn't the strongest doesn't mean he is terrible. He's my favorite because I find him fun and entertaining, and his Wolf Fang Fist was so interesting to me when I was younger, along with the Sokidan. On top of that, I really liked his design and I feel as if he's the most underrated character in the series. Also, he didn't even lose to the Saibaman. In fact, he overpowered the Saibaman. He defeated it but was too busy grandstanding that he had his guard down and the Saibaman self-destructed. At most it ended in a draw, but in the fight preceding that, Yamcha beat the Saibaman.
And GOD don't get me started on how much the TFS quoting irks me when it's repeated on every DBZ video. I admit, I found it funny the first couple times, but after a while it gets annoying, especially if the quote that the user posts was said ten billion times in the comments already. I.e. go on any Ginyu Force-related video that has nothing to do with TFS and you'll find at least 20 people in the comment section saying "Sure is Zarbon in here."

Faulconer is sometimes pretty good for what it is, but it usually is not a fit for the series. Kikuchi is fantastic an I especially like it for the original dragon ball an a lot of parts of Z. Though I also really really like the Yamamoto score as well.Singh is King wrote:- When people like shitty voice acting in general, not just in DB.

It's so bad, that even official material makes fun of him. You can now buy a "dead Yamcha" figure FFS.

Couldn't even throw the poor bastard a bone for once, and let him kick some Freeza soldier ass in the new movie but Roshi does, that should fill you in on how everyone feels about him from the official standpoint. The Desert Bandit wrote: You're kidding right? When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

I remember in one interview Tōru Furuya jokingly complained about how shitty Yamcha was treated in the show and Toriyama rebuffed by saying that he pretty much sees Yamcha as a joke character. So, well, there's nothing really much more that can be done.ekrolo2 wrote:Couldn't even throw the poor bastard a bone for once, and let him kick some Freeza soldier ass in the new movie but Roshi does, that should fill you in on how everyone feels about him from the official standpoint. The Desert Bandit wrote: You're kidding right? The same! Yamcha is in top of my favorite characters, on the same level as Tien! I really loved his character, his interactions with other oned, and I think, that he is really the first friend of Goku. Not Bulma, not Krillin, him. Yamcha was the first character to show a genuine care for Goku and his friends, and to save them from enemies (Monster Carrot, and ironically enough Goku himself). He was like the starting point for everything! Just imagine what would have happened if Yamcha didn't save Bulma? Or if Yamcha didn't cut Oozaru Goku's tail? The whole cities would have been devastated, Bulma would have been dead, which would have lead for Goku never finding Dragon Balls, never training under Roshi's beginning, and eventually, even if Red Ribbon for some reasons wouldn't have conquered the whole world, then Androids did! Without Bulma there would have been none people to build a time machine, and without Goku being trained by someone, there would have been none to save Earth from Androids, or even prior, from Raditz! If we actually think about it, Yamcha put in motion a whole chain of events, and made sure that events would happen the way they did! He also always cared about Bulma, even after her dumping him and starting living with Vegeta! He was the one to not only always be near Bulma and reassure her, but he even cheared up Vegeta's son (!) out of all people, while he deeply hated Vegeta himself, this says a lot about his character. In the end it was him who transported Goku to his home, after Goku became ill, and he was the one to give him a cure and to stay around him! And even in fights! If not for Yamcha, who knows, what would happened with Krillin, who himself was extremely overconfident and arrogant. The Desert Bandit wrote:For me, it's possibly the strangest, and call me obsessive for it, but for me it's saying Yamcha is a bad character, or that Yamcha lost to a Saibaman. You know how there was that thread that asked if TFS damages the reputation of the franchise? Well, this example is perfect in how TFS' POV has made its way into official material.dbgtFO wrote:The Yamcha treatment really is unbelievable. The Desert Bandit wrote:For me, it's possibly the strangest, and call me obsessive for it, but for me it's saying Yamcha is a bad character, or that Yamcha lost to a Saibaman. I'm pretty sure Yamcha's death pose has been a Japanese internet joke for awhile. It is their version of "Over 9000."Attitudefan wrote: You know how there was that thread that asked if TFS damages the reputation of the franchise? But that's Japan. Here in the US? TFS kinda destroyed his rep beyond repair. As a Yamcha fan it's just...kinda crap. Re: What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy
Even if Yamcha is a joke character, Akira Toriyama could at least make him happy as he did with Krillin. While I don't know the exact words, Akira Toriyama said once in an interview that while he gives Krillin the poor end of the stick, he sometimes makes him happy, such as him getting married. I wish he would at least do the same for Yamcha.
Honestly, I wish Akira Toriyama, or at least an associate of his, made some kind of spin-off where Yamcha actually gets it good or wins a fight.
Better yet, one of the movies he makes could focus primarily on the earthlings. Not just Yamcha, but also Chaotzu, Tien, and Krillin, giving them all a good spotlight equally.

Yeah, it's sad what Toriyama-sensei has done to Yamcha. I'm honestly shocked Yamcha hasn't thought of killing himself. So much bad luck.

Basically, they're telling people who ran into a bit of bad luck to kill themselves and that they're worthless. It's an awful message to put across. It makes Ymacha much more of an identifiable character because he doesn't always win. He makes mistakes. But he's still a badass. I love the little rub he got fighting Hero and smacking him right in the face with his Sokidan.
