Now that the convention's over, the whole experience feels surreal, like a dream; like it could never really happen. And yet, it did. I got to do voice acting with Freeza. My life is complete. I'm shocked, but I was the winning Freeza laugh at 16:39. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDLt36S4KfI#t=16m39s
And for the record, meeting Mike and Meri and the rest of you awesome Kanzenshuu peeps was a highlight of the con. You guys (and gal) rock!

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I meant to give you mad props for attempting the line in Japanese while everyone else either made funny comments or just went "blah blah blah" over the dialog portion.
So here are your mad props.

I don't think I mentioned how much I loved meeting the Kanzenshuu people, but it was wonderful. I can't wait to see that Kanzenshuu group photo! And thanks to Mousey (who hopefully will be a regular here), I was able to look through a Daizenshuu for the first time everMousey wrote: It was great meeting so many of you! The outpouring of the fandom just simply made the entire thing that much better!
Unfortunately, my camera, which I almost never use, filled up way quicker than I thought it would. It only had capacity for 2 minutes of video, which just overlaps with what Bilis took, so I wasn't able to document it very well. I'm happy that I got a picture with Mike and Meri though!
Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
This con. My god it was magical. I loved how relaxed the east vs west panel in was particular.

Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
So here is some of my trip, I left out some stuff but this oughtta at least be entertaining:
After the Sean Schemmel panel I was beside myself I got to learn a great deal about filming Kai and his approach to Goku and a second chance at the role. I was wishing I could have seen both Masako Nozawa and Sean's individual panels but due to scheduling I had to make a choice...but as fate would have it that ended up being the best choice!
Right after the panel we met with Sean and his fiance and took some great photos!
First Just me and him performing a Kamehameha

then with my friends.

And then his fiance took one to post on his fan cite!

Btw I am dressed as Goku and my friends are obviously, Mark Satan, Videl and Mr. Boo. So afterwards the timing was just right, because as we exited the room my friend dressed as Videl got a tiny tap on her back ….and it was Yuko Minaguchi! I immediately recognized her (thank you Animazement folder and Kanzenshuu) and lit up. Yuko Minaguchi looks at Videl and says "You're me!" Then turned to Mr. Satan and said "and My papa." In perfect English, which she told us she had been practicing, and then asked if she could get a picture with Videl, Satan and Boo.

I gladly took one with her camera and then my own and then got one with her!

We were all ecstatic. BUT The next thing that happens was the best…so I was about to go outside for some fresh air and who was sitting there on the bench with her translator...Masako Nozawa!
No one else was around and I could not believe it, so I went for it. I went outside and, actually felt a lot like how Goku sounds trying to act proper. I bowed and told her that I thought she was amazing not only for being the voice of Goku but for being just an incredible voice actor. The translator conveyed the message and she smiled. I asked if we could take a picture performing a Kamehameha together! She actually looked excited and in the Goku voice went "Hai" or something like that which I assumed meant yes but heck could have been "silly fanboy" for all I know. We performed the pick and I said "Arigato" and bowed and she said "thank you" in English which made my day.

At that point my friends were outside and she motioned us all together and we took a group shot! I told her thank you again and she smiled and we left. It was an incredible moment for my friends and me, one which I will never forget.

The next day we of course went to all the dragon ball panels and got our stuff signed by the entire cast, and got front row seats for "East v. West panel" and "We are Goku."

(I have another item signed by the cast [long story as to my good fortune] but need to frame it first before I post it…it is Chozenshuu 1’s dust cover signed by the entire cast and I will upload it later on.)

I then met the man, the myth, the legend himself! Kanzenshuu’s very own VegetoEX

Oddly enough timing just kept shining on us because as we went to to dealer's area we ran into Sean, his fiance, and Kara Edwards. Sean is by far an incredibly engaging man who truly appreciates his fans cuz he looked at us and was like "hey guys" we all were like "hey!" He showed us what he got and a new person, we had just met, was dressed as Trunks was walking with us and Trunks asked if we could get a group shot and Sean got it all set up! So we took another group photo this time with the addition of Kara Edwards. It was another great moment.

And then last but certainly not least we all attended the “We Are Goku” Panel. In line I got to meet some other Kanzenshuu fans, y’all rock btw, and later on I got to ask the Goku legends a question.

Sean’s answer was on point, but I think something got lost in translation based on Masako Nozawa’s response, but time was short so I was not about to monopolize the panel and rephrase.
Essentially I asked if because they had portrayed Goku and he meant so much to so many would they ever consider or had they ever considered turning down a role so that they would maintain the “image” of Goku in the public eye and if that affected other things they did in public, such as maybe chosing not to smoke or drink in public, and if that behavior had resulted in any type casting
Sean essentially said yes he would turn down certain roles, but that was because ethically he shares a lot of the same values of Goku and expounded on that but I don’t want to put words in his mouth. Nozawa responded that she would never say anything as Goku that he would not say. And Sean followed that up with how he would often consult the translator, especially in Kai on altering the script if it did not sound like Goku.
Here’s some more cool merchandise, a scroll signed by the entire cast that was there:
Unfortunately I had a long trip ahead of me so we couldn’t attend “We Are Videl” and left…but as fate would have it bumped into Kyle Hebert who took a pic with us and left a special message on my phone.

hmmmm...so would I do it all over again? ABSOLUTELY and I wouldn't have it any other way!...well except for being able to stay longer!
Seriously hoping next year we could see a “We Are Vegeta” Panel!
PS
If anybody knows how I can reduce the size of the pics I will gladly do so!

You really did hit the luck jackpot, Kakarot88. I loved your Goku, and your group too! You were all fantastic and adorable. My husband was especially thrilled to meet a Mr. Satan cosplayer, since he loves him.
I ended up in the elevator at the hotel with Nakao and Minaguchi, which was nerve-wracking, my goodness. I tried my best to be polite and not burn a hole in them staring, but they were so sweet and spoke with us for a while, since we were still carrying the stuff we got autographed at the big panel on Sunday morning. He remembered me because when he went to sign my Daizenshuu vol 1, I squealed about him signing in purple Sharpie for Freeza, and he smiled and said, "My color!" in perfect English. Nakao, why are you so cute.

Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
I think one of the coolest take aways from this experience was that my group all wanted to rewatch the Freeza saga in Japanese despite disliking that music with a passion. I had been telling them to watch the series that way for years despite the music and choose their favorite, I still prefer the Faulconer score and always will, but hearing Ryūsei Nakao first hand and his evil laugh really peaked their interest which was awesome!

Thanks! Yeah we had a blast! I hope Raleigh just becomes a DBZ haven lol I would go there each year if that were the case. That's really cool getting to meet with them in the elevator! I found the approachability and willingness to talk with both casts really touching you could tell they all cared about their work and their fans. I was thinking about that. If Toriyama did attend, I would pretty much be obligated to go. Like, drop whatever I had planned and just fucking go.

It's certainly not likely, but to be fair, I said to a friend that Masako Nozawa would never attend a con last year right after meeting Furukawa at Animazement 2012 ... and look what happened, haha. (Still holding out my personal "headcanon" that Furukawa talked her into it after having such a good time at his first Animazement.)AnimeMaakuo wrote:It would be nice if Akira Toriyama attended one of these, though, that will probably never happen.

It was definitely animazing or animazement to say the least! Haha couldn't resist.
Anyone in favor of trying to put together, not sure how, but some sort of petition to submit to Animazement to get Ryo Horikawa and Chris Sabat there for a "We are Vegeta" panel!!
or "We Are Piccolo" with Toshio Furukawa and Sabat!!
Dream would be to have Piccolos, Gokus and Vegetas all talking about the franchise next year!
