Energy color
In the series many characters have different energy or ki colors. For instance, Son Goku's energy waves are mostly blue, the Kamehameha being his prime example. Then in GT the 10x Kamehameha is somehow both red and blue.
Son Gohan's Masenko is usually yellow just like Vegeta's Final Flash while the Big Bang attack being blue yet again. Freezer's energy attacks have purple color, like his Death Beam, kind of coinciding with his purple head and shoulders. Broly's attacks are green, probably because of his aura et cetera.
Then all other generic energy volleys range from one end of the color spectrum to the other so to speak.
My question: Do you think one can control the color of one's own energy? Could Son Goku make his Kamehameha green, red (obviously in GT somehow) or whatever color else?

I think it's just for design purposes. I don't think they can change the colours of their ki at random.InfernalVegito wrote:In the series many characters have different energy or ki colors. Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: Energy color
I thought the same thing. I think it's a combination of their Ki (good, evil or in between), their mindset and mood and some biological effects.

Re: Energy color
Ki is broken up into various sub-components. Perhaps in the different percentages of these sub-components to make up a ki attack provides a variation on colour? For instance, blue ki would signify a stronger Genki component within a ki attack. So for the Genki Dama and Kamehameha; Genki is the larger percentage of what makes up these ki attacks to give them that blue colour. Ki attacks which have a larger percentage of Yuuki and Shouki would provide other colours. Maybe you get something like the RGB scale where:
Red = Shouki
Green = Yuuki
Blue = Genki
And different mixtures of these present different ki colours?

Re: Energy color
You also have Cell, who had many different colored ki attacks. And I believe Fat Buu uses a purple/pink Kamehameha against SSJ3 Goku, but a normal looking blue one against Pure Evil Buu.InfernalVegito wrote:In the series many characters have different energy or ki colors. Freeza's are mostly purple, but he had that one attack where he trapped Goku in that ball of energy, and it was orange. Also, the attack he shot at the Genki Dama was black with blue sparks.

Re: Energy color
Well I believe Vegeta used gold, blue and purple blasts at some point or another. I think it may just be the type of attack that produces a certain color, as it is probably concentrating the ki differently.

I actually like this explanation more than my own!Hitiro wrote:Ki is broken up into various sub-components. But what would the black ki be from GT?

Re: Energy color
I would guess negative ki? Gogeta says about counteracting Syn Shenron negative ki blast with his own positive ki and purifying the atmosphere in the process. So for negative ki the RGB scale would work in reverse? With black being an evenly mixed proportion of all sub-components of ki.Insertclevername wrote:I actually like this explanation more than my own!
But what would the black ki be from GT?
So with positive ki the absence of any of the ki components would lead to darkness; or in RGB scale it would be 0, 0, 0.
In negative ki the absence of any of the ki components would lead to light; or in RGB scale it would be 255, 255, 255.
When I came up with this explanation I was really only thinking in terms of the manga as we have only seen a few coloured pages where ki attacks have been used. So I wasn't thinking anything as far as GT.

Re: Energy color
I'd be interested in seeing if different characters would have differently colored Kaio-ken auras.

Re: Energy color
From what I've read, it seems that the colored version of the Manga is going with golden color for all Ki. Does that factor in at all?
Re: Energy color
Interestingly, Super Saiyans generally have blue auras in the manga.

Re: Energy color
I thought it was only blue on the Kanzenban colours? I remember Goku having white in a full colour chapter, at least.Bussani wrote:Interestingly, Super Saiyans generally have blue auras in the manga.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
Re: Energy color
Ah, is that the case? My mistake.

Re: Energy color
The old color chapters showed Super Saiyans with white flame aura's, with the texture gaining more and more sharpness as their powers increased. The full color manga may or may not have turned this on its head, but I do not know as of yet.
