Roshi’s Buff form multiplier

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Roshi’s Buff form multiplier

Post by Speedster » Mon Sep 28, 2015 12:20 pm

The several arguments:

X1.5
Personally I always thought of Roshi’s Buff form like the USSJ form compared to SSJ and since SSJ2 is 2xSSJ1 the USSJ and Roshi’s buff form are more like 1.5x multiplier. According to Trunks when Gohan turned SSJ2 “he did it the right way i.e. without losing speed” implying that USSJ and SSJ2 had similar raw strength but SSJ2 being much faster than SSJ1 instead of slower. But in terms of Ki output I wuld say the USSJ would be close to 2x the power level.

So if Roshi’s power level in the first tournament was 110, his buff form was likely 180-200 (for Ki output purposes). Then x1.5 for a Ki attack amplification so he blew up the moon with an attack of a power level equal to 270-300. The earth has 81 bigger mass than the moon so you need (at most) a power level of 300*81=24300 to destroy it. Given that Vegeta whose power level was 18000 was going to destroy the earth (with an attack that was cancelled by Kaioken x 3 Goku whose base was 8000 thus x 3=24000) it seems about right.

x3
In the first tournament it was implied that Roshi could have killed Oozaru Goku. He chose to destroy the moon but not as a strategic plan in light of his incapability to kill Oozaru Goku but simply because he didn't want to kill Goku. However if Goku’s power level at the time was 100 then as Oozaru he would be 1000 and therefore Roshi’s max power Kamehameha needed to be in that range. So Buff Roshi was more likely closer to Goku at the start of DBZ whose power level was 416 and could shoot a Kamehameha over 924.

So Buff Roshi is likely a 3x multiplier his base for raw strength and Ki but /3 in speed although apparently in Fukkatsu no F he had figured a way to overcome the speed issue. A power level of around 400 is certainly not small (Z fighters and main villains aside) - Radditz was “elite” and had a power level of 1200 (though some argue 1300).

x10
I hear quite a few Dragonball youtubers referring to Roshi’s buff form as “x10” apparently from the Oozaru argument in the 21 tournament. I completely disagree with this because as stated for the x3 case he wouldn't need a power level of 1000 to kill Oozaru Goku but rather something in the range of 400 and then it would be a 2.5x amplification.

What do you think is Roshi's buff form multiplier?
