What attacks can be done with an energy shield/ki barrier up?

What attacks can be done with an energy shield/ki barrier up?

Or to put it another way, how limiting is it to have to put up an energy shield?

The Dragonball wiki lists an attack "Gigantic Slam" for Broly but it isn't clear whether he drops the shield when he's actually punching.
