Is SSJ Grade 3 slower than regular SSJ?
Grade 3 increases Ki and strength substantially but sacrifices speed due to it's bulky form. In terms of speed, would grade 3 Trunks be slower than his regular SSJ form
Re: Is SSJ Grade 3 slower than regular SSJ?
I believe it's safe to assume it is. That form is a variation of the regular super saiyan level 1, which Goku deemed to be a better choice to improve. In my headcannon, ssj grade 2 already sacrifices some speed and stamina (but still faster than regular ssj, let's just say it doesn't rise proportionally), so grade 3 takes the idea to its full extent.

I have it like that. Otherwise, SSJ wouldn't be any more efficient than Grade III, except for energy loss. Here's a treat of my own:
Power = Strength * Agility / Energy, based on physics' Force formula of mass, change in velocity and time.
SSJ - Power: 50 | Strength: 10 | Agility: 10 | Energy: 2
Grade II - Power: 64 | Strength: 16 | Agility: 16 | Energy: 4
Grade III - Power : 80 | Strength: 80 | Agility: 8 | Energy: 8
Full Power - Power: 100 | Strength: 10 | Agility: 10 | Energy: 1
Mass is strength or sturdiness, change in velocity is agility, and they get divided by time or energy spent. Change in velocity by time spent is acceleration, while in Dragon Ball, it would be a boost or burst.

Grade III has more raw ki, so literally speaking, it's impossible for it to be slower. Just pump more ki into your speed, and you can physically move faster.
The only problem was that the muscles were so damn bulky, it was hard to move. This allowed a more skilled fighter to easily take advantage. It's a very precise and minúte weakness, and highlights how skilled Cell was.

The muscle mass actually impeded movement moreso than Grade 2 generating a negative effect.nickzambuto wrote:Grade III has more raw ki, so literally speaking, it's impossible for it to be slower. Just pump more ki into your speed, and you can physically move faster.

Raw power doesn't necessarily mean you can't be slower. Ginyu is comfortably above Goku in raw power and is still noticeably slower. Ginyu Goku was laughably weaker than his normal body (23k to 120k) and he still said Goku's body was much faster.
