I guess I shouldn't start with "But Toriyama stated in the manga" but he did state that Piccolo would not get stronger even though he got bigger. Which is dumb, but he needed Kami out of Piccolo's stomach, while at the same time preventing Goku from being killed by being poked with a finger.

So...Go get him Cell?

It would be so much more useful if characters became smaller. I mean, just look at what Candy Vegito did to Buu. =P

He's just leveled the field in terms of size and weight so that they are matched in that regard. He didn't actually become stronger (as in gained Ki, just size and weight).

He did that because Vegetto was absurdly more powerful and faster than Buu to begin with. Being small, without that, doesn't mean much at all. It allows for greater evasiveness but even that without greater speed isn't effective.

But seriously, always enjoy a giant monster fight. I gotta image Cell will win. He'll probably be the final foe Goku faces, unless Vegeta has a trump card.

Actually that's Piccolo's Great Namek skill, which allowed him to increase his size and physical strength without losing speed. Granted making yourself too big just makes you an easy target, but nonetheless. What I'm curious about is why Cell never used Kaio-Ken like...at all. He claims he can even do the Spirit Bomb yet there's no mention of Kaio-Ken.

I wanna say Toriyama forgot about Kaio-Ken but then again, he did bring back the virtually extinct Zenkai concept which means that might not be the case. I think Toriyama probably realized that if Cell started breaking out KK or Oozaru, he'd thoroughly squash the good guys and he wasn't too keen on dragging the arc out any more than he already had to from editorial mandates.

Probably Cell doesn't use KK because he can go "Super Saiyan" and just uses that all the time as his max power.

Yeah, it's weird for Goku to point that out. He already knows the technique and also knows it didn't help Piccolo when they fought.

Toriyama most likely ditch Kaioken when SSj was first introduced in the series. Knowing that Goku no longer needs to go Kaioken after he first goes SSj.

Cell's regeneration gimmick means that growing larger actually might have proven useful. That's a lot more volume to destroy.
