Throwing Jaco in there was probably a nod to Toriyama becoming active all of a sudden and publishing the series while DBM was going. Either that or it was assumed without reading that Jaco was a gag manga in the vein of Neko Majin.BlazingBarrrager wrote:Can't help but wonder why Jaco was there in Universe 2. I actually talked about it with Salagir after the pages with Jaco were published and your first assumption is true - there is no way Salagir would do something "without reading".FoolsGil wrote: Throwing Jaco in there was probably a nod to Toriyama becoming active all of a sudden and publishing the series while DBM was going. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
No one was attacking Saligir. Is that what you thought? Because frankly you zoned in on that and responded to it unnecessarily. Maybe I could only come up with two possible scenarios of why Jaco was in U2 and not a spectator cameo in the tournament, which also would have been an adequate nod as well-and if he had selected option two, it wouldn't make him any less of a writer or a fan-he ignores and axes things all the time, and would have been a normal response to sweep Jaco into the corner and ignore it if Toriyama became active, after all, Saligir isn't going to suddenly change his series to match Toriyama's after 5 years.Tzigi wrote:I actually talked about it with Salagir after the pages with Jaco were published and your first assumption is true - there is no way Salagir would do something "without reading".FoolsGil wrote: Throwing Jaco in there was probably a nod to Toriyama becoming active all of a sudden and publishing the series while DBM was going. So..bring it down a notch? Or not. Whatever.

Universe 2 is just a nod to toriyama's work overall and comic relief, kind of like when Arale showed up in Dragon Ball. That's why he was there.BlazingBarrrager wrote:Can't help but wonder why Jaco was there in Universe 2. I mean yeah at that time he had his manga running, but still. Nope - you are just creating another straw man here. I responded to those parts of the post that I considered deserving a response. You put unnecessary pressure on a part of my post. The ideas are just in your head. By the way I can express myself clearly enough and when I think someone is attacking Salagir and is doing this because of some poorly justified/misunderstood reason, I can quite easily defend Salagir and be up-front about it. Here, on the other hand, I was just reminiscing about my conversations with Salagir while on a comic festival (convention) in Łódź - that included the point that Salagir is very careful about his screen-writing choices and wouldn't use something without having read it. That's all.FoolsGil wrote: No one was attacking Saligir. Is that what you thought? Because frankly you zoned in on that and responded to it unnecessarily. And also, google straw man. You're not using it right.

I guess whether he is Goku or Kakarot, he's still a goofball at heart.ParkerAL wrote:Well this quickly took a turn for the goofy.

Yep this screams buddy comedy. And right before Raditz makes a breakthrough, Vegeta calls them up and dashes all of Raditz' progress, I'm sure.

Is Raditz...Is Raditz blushing from Goku being rude and not eating with utensils?

I really, really dislike Kakarotto.
On the other hand, I'm a fan of this new version of Raditz.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I don't understand....Saiyans sending away their offspring is common, so why is Kakarotto so damaged? Do most Saiyans come back damaged? I don't think we can blame this all on the Kuririn incident.
I don't dislike Multiverse because it's not official. I dislike it because it continues to feel less and less like Dragon Ball, the plot is boring me (most of the gag-match ups have ended), the original characters are generic in terms of personality and visual design, and the depictions of alternate versions of characters is very hit and miss for me. I do hate most of the Toei movies for similar reasons, but not all of them, and not because Toriyama didn't write them. That being said, I'm still interested in seeing where this goes.
I think it's fine to tell a story in the Dragon Ball world that doesn't match the feel of the story of Son Goku, as long as it doesn't try to take on those characters is a similar way. The Bardock special was very successful at this.
The Dragon Ball Super anime is garbage, I absolutely loved RoF. The manga by Toyotaro is fantastic. Agree to disagree.fadeddreams5 wrote: I'm the opposite. After enduring several episodes of Super and watching that shitty Resurrection F movie, I find myself appreciating Multiverse much more.
There's no reason to dislike a series that's made by fans for fans just because other people's opinions don't match yours. It's even more silly to lose interest in the series only because it doesn't match the official content in some way. That's like hating the Toei movies only for that reason.

Because he wasn't supposed to stay alone on Earth for so long - if not for the destruction of planet Vegeta, someone would have come for him earlier. Okay, I'll buy that. I guess I just don't understand why the doctor was blaming his condition on his "destructive purpose" then. Maybe it's weird wording via translation? Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of an "evil" Kakarotto and a more developed Raditz, but Kakarotto's behavior is just a bit over the top for my tastes.Tzigi wrote: Because he wasn't supposed to stay alone on Earth for so long - if not for the destruction of planet Vegeta, someone would have come for him earlier. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
We have no idea how saiyans kids that are "programmed" to destroy a planet would act when they grow up. We only saw normal saiyans and a saiyan that lost his programming after getting hit on the head.batistabus wrote:I don't understand....Saiyans sending away their offspring is common, so why is Kakarotto so damaged? Maybe a big number of them becoming extra violent was actually common but the saiyans didn't think that was actually a problem. It's even possible that they actually thought it was a positive development since the saiyan kids sent were low level, so increased aggressiveness actually made them more valuable warriors, which pleased the saiyans.
