Had been dead-set for a while on the idea that one way or another they were both Zamasu. Though now I'm curious as to which is the one from the main timeline and which is from Trunks', as well as how events fit together with Zamasu's seeming demise last episode. (He must have had an out somehow, but without the green Potara to use the time ring and gather the Super Dragon Balls by that point, I don't have a solid guess as to what it was.)

No they haven't. A lot of people have not seen Super yet in the US. The only people watching Super subbed are a niche group of people like us. I talked to many casual fans outside of the Internet and most of them tell me "I will just wait for the dub" and "I haven't seen the show yet". It's no different in the past when fans already seen the series subbed while causal fans are watching the show dubbed on TV. Sure the Internet back then was different, but people still had access to download things on the web or go a local Japanese import shop with bootleg tapes.

Not to mention when I saw BOG in theaters in 2014, a lot of people at the theater haven't seen the movie. One guy next to me was like "Did you saw the movie in Japan?" and I was like "No. I saw a fan sub copy of the movie before Funimation got the rights to the movie".

Yeah. I was really shocked to find out it was Ginyu as well. I guess we'll see how it plays out. Toei may have shot themselves in the foot by using him in the "F" TV adaptation. Hopefully they've come up with a convincing explanation as to how he's alive.

The questions, then, are:
- Which Goku? My first guess is Future Goku, but that would lead to a lot of training to get his body's strength up from a bit over Frieza to all the way up by the gods. Of course, that's where his new pain boost hax come in.
- Which Zamasu? Present Zamasu is supposedly dead, and another Zamasu is already there in the future timeline, so there's two other Zamasu's left (four green Time Rings), unless Present Zamasu didn't actually die and it's him. But it shouldn't be him, since Present Zamasu is the one with the biggest reason to despise Goku, so why would he then give the other Zamasu the honours? If anything the roles would be reversed.
- When (in what Age) did the switch happen?
- Why is Goku Black's transformation Rosé if the body is still good ol' Goku's? Can regular saiyans also achieve Rosé?
- Where's Zamasu-Goku? My first guess is dead because it's Future Goku, but you never know...

Also, you don't really "switch minds and bodies". If you switch bodies, your mind stays where it is. If you switch minds, your body stays where it is. If you switch both, neither stays, and you've achieved nothing except move to each other's positions. But that's a silly nitpick on my part.[/spoiler]

I could have seen one of the Zamasus coming from Cell's original timeline, but considering Beerus killed Zamasu in the main timeline, barring something weird transpiring, that's impossible. The Zamasu who is still in his body in the future timeline is probably native to that timeline. I don't know which timeline Black came from, but the 'fourth' timeline mentioned in the guidebooks is probably unlikely, since it hasn't been mentioned at all in the manga/anime. Maybe from one of the other 'alternate worlds' the green rings belong to, or something along those lines?[/spoiler]

Well, I'm not disappointed with the answer. It's not just what I wanted.
Being Goten somehow or the GoD from Universe 10 would be my top choices.

Especially the former. The idea of Zamasu using Goku's son as a revenge tool and turn out to Be Goten Black vs Future Trunks all along would be great to me.
I would still need to work that out though.

Honestly thought it was just Zamasu implanting his ki to Goku's body. Making this a lot better now that I know Black isn't just some pawn of Zamasu that going get thrown away because [spoiler]he is Zamasu[/spoiler]

That would explain how both are still alive.

The thing is though, if both come from timelines other than the present, why did both come to hate Goku? Maybe the deceased Goku from one of their deadlines participated in an afterlife tournament, and that's how he learned of him?

One of the two being from the main timeline would explain how they know of Goku. But with Beerus having killed Zamasu, that's not really possible.

I'm interested in the specifics of which Goku, etc. However like myself, most people knew after all it would be Zamasu in some form haha. Let's see the rest of the details though!

Now we have more questions than answers but I'm happy with who Black is cause I didn't even think about that but I wish they would've let us find out while watching the episode.
