One Piece rankings have been declining for some time now.
Dressrosa burnt out, probably?! You really have to love One Piece, if you don't get burnt out watching that arc in the anime.

The pacing is terrible and a good competition for Goku vs Freeza on Namek.
Oda can be also be blamed. I like Dressrosa arc premise but personally I think he introduced way too many characters, which may turn out an enjoyable plot in a total mess.
Dressrosa ended 4.5 moths ago zou already is 10 episodes in and there was a 4 episode filler arc right before. Calling it just Dressrossa burnout right now seems quite off.
Exactly, the Magna for OP is the more popular of the two in Japan.

The pacing in the One Piece anime is so bad atm. Sometimes half a chapter/ep. The Zou arc was actually pretty good in the manga, but they're dragging it out.

Excepting the 1st episode of the Zou arc, that was 1st half characters stories and 2nd Zou, all other episodes have been 1 chapter length.

But the common opinion among the fanbase is that Dressrosa was too damn dragged out, and Zou is generally regarded as a short but sweet arc, with new revelations and an interesting set up for the next two.
I think it's too weird of a coincidence that manga sales and anime viewership both dropped immediately with the end of Dressrosa. Could we even blame Zou, an arc that had barely started? Even if it had problems, i think it would take some time to affect the series as a whole.

Ask this yourself! Common opinion among who?

If people really regarded Zou as a "short" and "sweet" arc, than it wouldn't have this performance. Also note how even during the filler arc One Piece still had good TV Ratings, 4 episodes-1 month of 8.4 average TV rating.

If Dressrossa was really the burnout you are saying people wouldn't endure it for 3 years getting high TV ratings(8.3 increasing 0.34 from Punk Hazard), just to than drop the anime right after it. That didn't happened with Skypiea, where the TV ratings dropped during it, didn't happened with Water 7 Saga(Water 7 + Ennies Lobby) where the TV ratings also dropped during it, didn't happened with Thriller Bark, where the TV ratings also dropped during it and so on. Getting increasing and good TV ratings in an arc and starting to decline on other doesn't in any way means the arc with the good TV ratings burn out the viewers.

There are many reasons why a TV series starts getting lower ratings and the most common is people didn't liked much the CURRENT arc, the second is that people just get off of the habit of watching regularly at the set time.
Have you ever knew a person that endured "hell" to end an arc and than just goes away when a new "short" and "sweet" one is coming. Normally people give up in the middle of the bad arc, specially when is so big, or in the beginning of a new arc when it doesn't seems as promising as it should.

Note that the same "dragged out and bad" arc shinanigans happened in the Internet community with Fishmen Island, that took 1 entire year and it still got increasing Manga sales(The most sold volume of the series is in Fishermen Island arc) and Good Stable TV ratings.

Still, If you note One Piece after the highest point of the hype of Sabaody Archipelago, Rescue Ace and Film Strong World has been declining overall. In the anime the decrease of TV ratings started after Impel Down even, yes, before the Marineford war, we got this rating average per arc:

Sabaody Archipelago -> 9.3
Amazon Lily -> 10.4
Crewmates' Whereabouts -> 10.1
Impel Down -> 11.5
Straw Hat's Separation Serial -> 12.4
Marineford -> 10.9
Post-War -> 9.6
...

Also people need to have an ideat that this TV ratings numbers is a estimative where the value given is interval center point with a margin of error of 1.8 points. This means is possible that Dragon Ball Super got in reality 4.4 points while One Piece 8(yes, the other way around is also possible).

Thank you! This is all the truth. Just because they tied one week, doesn't mean that it'll surpass it next week and things are a little more complicated than they initially thought. People need to pay attention more to sales and ratings as they go on, One Piece still sells well and is watched a lot.

Personally I'd attribute the slight decline in One Piece ratings with the Zou arc to Zou just...not having much in the way of action (in the manga, anyway; dunno how much the anime might've added/extended). The plot stuff presented is great, but it's a transitional arc mostly meant to explain stuff that happened "off-screen" and to set up the objectives going forward.

People who've read the manga already know that there aren't any amazing fights to look forward to seeing animated, so people who watch mostly for stuff like that don't have much reason to make tuning in a priority right now.

One piece is a monster. No doubt about that. But dB super tied with it, so I think it can definitely surpass it from now on. Not consistently, but every now and then

I haven't been keeping up with Super cuz I was busy as all hell, so I'm trying to play catch up and I have to say, some of the ratings were disappointing, as the plot was progressing very nicely along with the earlier fights being intense(like the Trunks Final Flash episode). Super should've been tied with One Piece a while ago if you ask me.

One Piece anime has been dog shit ever since Dressrosa started. The manga wasn't much better either. People are tired of the horrible pacing

People say DBS is bad but it has been far superior to last 3 years of OP since U6 arc. I won't be surprised if Super surpasses OP, OP's decline was inevitable

With Super being One Piece's lead in, shouldn't One Piece being surpassed be harmful in the long run? I mean, the ratings are still good and they are both in the top 10, so it's not like it would be a dissaster or anything. I'm guessing if Super eventually constantly surpasses OP something like a time-slot change would be possible, as Super would have their following and OP would get a new lead-in in order to raise it's ratings back to what they were.

That would be bogus for Super, because the ratings might drop for Super if that happens.
