I thought the merchandise sales mattered more than the ratings, why are you worried?Lord Beerus wrote:Man, the ratings are just not picking up. This kinda worries me a little.

I just thought that the idea of Goku and Zamasu fusing would bring more eyes to the screen. I'm just wondering when the numbers will pick up.VejituhTheWarriorGuy wrote:I thought the merchandise sales mattered more than the ratings, why are you worried?Lord Beerus wrote:Man, the ratings are just not picking up. Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Dragonball Super is consistently in the top 10 of the most watched anime in Japan every week, and the top 3-4 shows are family-centric anime that have existed for 40 years.
Super is doing great. I don't get what people are expecting. There are popular anime that constantly fall out of the top 10 like Pokemon, Precure, Yu-gi-oh, Naruto....so what is the problem here? Those shows keep going and they're never in the top 10....and Pokemon comes in and out.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Every episode starting with Episode 52 has sat within that 5.0-6.9 range.
Unless an episode falls outside of that range then it's not going to warrant much of a reaction out of me. Only 10 out of the 64 episodes have gone outside of that range. So Super's ratings have been kinda normal really.

It's important to note that it's still always around 7th place.Bullza wrote:Every episode starting with Episode 52 has sat within that 5.0-6.9 range.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I really think that this is mostly due to how times have changed, i mean, from time to time, i used to search for dragon ball super videos in japanese, to see how many people liked them and all that.
And currently, not only dbs's clips are receiving more likes/views than before, but like a lot of people are beggining to upload those clips, no seriously, like in comparison with others arc, right now, there are a ton of people in japan doing it, in fact, sometimes i found some videos where people were making theories and such.

Could you link these? I love seeing what the Japanese fanbase thinks, but they're so scattered and there's so much slang and kanji on sites like 2chan, it's hard to track (also, I can barely navigate anonymous boards in English).dbs fanboy wrote:I really think that this is mostly due to how times have changed, i mean, from time to time, i used to search for dragon ball super videos in japanese, to see how many people liked them and all that.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
People don't watch live TV much anymore. This isn't the 90's or early 2000's.
Why bother when everything is uploaded to the internet?

https://youtu.be/cdsnF59VkcA here's a random video with Black dancing.
About the videos with them talking about it, i don't even know how i find them, i just starts clicking in every single dbs video to then translate the comments and see what they think, and while doing this i randomly ended up clicking a video with a guy talking about the episode .
My point is, that the Japanes audience does care and enjoy this arc.

Whenever I watch something its either online or on DVDs/blu-ray.
Who watches shows with commercials nowadays? Maybe a 60 year old grandpa, but not us young 20-30 year olds or the young teens/kids raised during the youtube generation.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
That's you. That isn't the vast majority of people, even people in their 20 or 30s. You can see the ratings on Toonami to prove that, where Kai gets over a million viewers at 11:30pm Central Time. There are also many places in the US that doesn't have free access to the internet. And you have commercials even on stream sites, just asked anyone who watch shows on Hulu or even Crunchyroll.precita wrote:I don't think I watch anything on TV anymore live.HeroR wrote:More people still watch stuff on TV compared to streaming sites.precita wrote:People don't watch live TV much anymore. Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Believe me. An adult that works from Monday to Friday, won't wake up at 9 to watch dbs, no matter how much of a super fan he is. He will stream it later.Lord Beerus wrote:I just thought that the idea of Goku and Zamasu fusing would bring more eyes to the screen. I enjoy dbs and I strive to watch it live every week but still sometimes I just need to sleep. However, that doesn't change the fact that I later stream it and
watch it like 4-5 times. These ratings only reflect ages around 9-14. I would be more disappointed if we learn that the merchandise sales didn't skyrocketed.
In general we see that young kids in Japan prefer butt humor more than battles.
