James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

New 'update' from Toyble. He hasn't forgotten his DBAF yet... and you?
Many thanks to Tomac66, Brolen and Xevious for this new scan from Young Jijii's Dragon Ball After Future, volume 17:

That also caught my eye, and it seem's Young Jijii had plans for 2 more arcs with AF. He said he stopped for now but I'm not sure why in one of the last pages of AF17.

Dear Toyble/Toyotaro-san, if it happens that you read this message, please continue this story. Please. It's incredibly true that for any fan with the creativity and love you have for Dragon Ball it's an amazing joy to work as an official author. But please continue this story that you envisioned by yourself as well. It will help you maintain your own identity and not become a tool that only draws other people's ideas. (and it's better than Super )

I Believe once he has downtime or isn't working on an official manga, that he will do AF in his spare time. I doubt he will sell it or create another blog, but he'll probably just upload it freely somewhere.

I've just scanned the latest rare booklet printed of DBAF by Toyble: it contains pages 21-30 from the long-awaited-not-arrived-yet DBAF 5, draft pages.
Yes, we already had them, but these are scanned in HQ. Oh, and please help me translating the title on the front of this booklet (there is Beat at its best), and the back too... download it here:

Sorry to bother you guys, but some time ago youngjijii posted his manga library on his twitter account: https://twitter.com/youngjijii/status/6 ... 5274989568
If you look with attention, you'll notice that there, bottom on the right, there are DBAF 1, 2, 3, 4, bonus booklets and... little vertical writings standing for "DBAF 5"!
Do you know some ways to contact youngjijii in english and receive a feedback about toyble's DBAF 5?
I suppose Toyble actually printed very few copies of it, and released just to his friends. Youngjijii didn't answer to my questions on twitter, does he have a mail contact?
Re: Toyble DBAF [June 9, 2012] Vol 4 HD release complete
Gotta say I really liked the shit out of Toyble's AF. For several reasons:
- it explains the mess that GT's ending was, and does it well
- it attempts to give Broly some characterization by putting him in an environment where he's no longer a threat
- the story is pretty cool
To me this is pretty much THE continuation to GT. I don't care if it's not official, in my head this is what happened after GT (provided of course that GT happened, which it didn't, haha!) But yeah, in all seriousness this makes GT better in retrospect and a genuinely enjoyable little side-story.

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since Toyble made his own AF manga. I doubt he knew that he would make official Dragon Ball manga many years later. Had to finish the story, I wonder if he would have put Beerus and Whis in the story. He could have found a way to mix them in somehow.

Re: Toyble DBAF [June 9, 2012] Vol 4 HD release complete
Surely yes just because Lila is a god, an evil Kaioshin like Zamasu. But Beerus probably is sleeping at this point of the Dragon Ball story...
Re: Toyble DBAF [June 9, 2012] Vol 4 HD release complete
Now Beerus would be dead I guess, since the Kaioshin is dead in the AF manga

Hahahahah, that's right! Oh my, I absolutely want to live long enough to see this doujinshi concluded.szopman wrote:Now Beerus would be dead I guess, since the Kaioshin is dead in the AF manga
