What do you mean when you say that GT's opening doesn't fit shonen? Shonen isn't a genre, it's a description of the target audience. To say that anything doesn't fit within it doesn't make sense, it's all context dependent.

He probably meant that opening's lyrics don't fit a battle shonen, which is true for most, as it's about falling in love. I mean, it's a good song, but completely different from all the other openings and doesn't fit DB in particular, at least not as an OP.
And while "shonen" is literally "young boy", many people use "shonen" to refer to a genre, it's commonly accepted.

I don't like Super's OP either. It's cause of the reasons many have mentioned already. The vocals are plain dead. There's hardly any passion. 70 episodes in, I still haven't got used to it and I don't think I ever will.

I would've liked it, if it was animated well. If the animators involved were given freedom to display their idiosyncrasies and there was some smart directing and post-processing, but it doesn't even have that. I hope it gets replaced soon.

How long do you think it may be before they decide to change the OP for Super or replace the opening song? If they ever do.

I'm not a huge fan of it either and I think they could do better.

My wild guess would be episode 100, which would be around 2 year anniversary for Super.

Dragon Ball had the same opening song for its 3 years.
Dragon Ball Z had the same opening for 4 years, and then another one for 2 years.
GT had one opening for almost a year and a half.

The point, of course, is that Dragon Ball tends not to have many opening changes.

Maybe if they have a really big timeskip? I assumed part of the reason as to why the Z opening was changed was because post-Cell Saga, everyone looks so different, most of the old shots don't really fit. Especially everything with Goku and Gohan.

I don't find it likely they're going to do a timeskip, so I don't think it's likely they'll change the opening.

Yeah, it's about a guy who wakes up being Yamcha and decides to train hard to avoid the things he knows that will happen to Yamcha. It's fun, but a little too rushed.

Maybe but #18's tracksuit reminds me of some race. Would she, or even Kuririn and Kamesennin, even participate? We can see 10 fighters... with Goten and Trunks they'd be 12... I don't know.
