I see Dragonball is really trying to catch on to the waifu/moe anime crowd lately with all these new female fighters, like the two Saiyans and this new green-haired girl. Feels very unusual for Dragonball to have so many new female characters.

I don't see how the introduction of more female character equates to trying to appeal to the waifu/moe anime crowd. Dragon Ball can introduce any kind of character, from any kind of species, and from either gender, as it so fits. Much like it has done in the past. Plus, we're dealing with multiple universes. You don't think there would some strong female fighters among them?

Let's put it this way, over the entire span of DBZ we never had a female villain besides 18 for a little bit, and even then she wasn't a big antagonist. Even in the movies all the villains were male besides one of Bojack's henchmen and she only stood out for that reason.

but Z only has 4 main ones.

Oh that's just what the series needs. First significant new female characters in ages and they would have to involve them in some unnecessary love triangle.

DBZ was made over 20 years ago though, the world AND the entertainment industry changed a lot, including Japan and likely Toriyama himself too. Dragon Ball will naturally aim to attract as large audience and potential pool of customers as possible and including relevant female fighters is one of the most obvious things to do.

Next episode or the one after, it's pretty likely that Goku is gonna end up spilling the beans about the stakes of the tournament and all members will be aware of it. It has to be since everyone would end up suspecting why Goku chose Freeza of all people to participate in the tournament to the point where Goku would end up spilling the truth out of his mouth. Which makes the whole plot point of Goku trying to hide the truth from the members all the more dumb.
