People spent forever bitching that not much has happend during the "Gathering Fighters " stage, saying we want more to happen......then when we actually get to a truly interesting moment in the narrative of the build up, one universe trying to sabotage another, people want to skip it. Well thats humans for you. Ad to that the fact that during the u6 and Black arc people were complaining that the arcs were to short and now we get an arc thats actually taking its time....I do wander if people even know what they want.

I wanted to write the exact same thing. They are actually taking their time with this arc? I'm completely fine with it. The episodes look good and are enjoyable, and if all this padding means they have more time to work on the tournament episodes to make them as good as possible, then so be it. Some months ago I actually wrote I would have been fine with the tournament starting even at episode 100, as long as the tournament is good, and I still believe it. Sure, I would like to see the tournament starting but I prefer to wait rather than having it immediately and then complain about the quality.

Yeah, other than the poachers and the dojo episodes, both of which I actually think were boring and a waste of time, I'd say every other episode of the arc was entertaining and served a purpose. It wouldn't be good at all if they just threw the tournament at us with dozens of new faces we knew nothing about, or even a lack of recruitment scenes/characters interaction for the U7 team would make the process and preparation feel truly shallow. It's not like they're filling 20 minutes every week with staring contests like DBZ did, it's actually adding weight to the tournament. Of course, it needs to deliver to make it fair.

The Sidra thing would feel throwaway had he been a random assassin, but the way it is, it sounds intriguing and could actually mean something in the big picture.

The difference here is that all that occurred in the anime, while Broly appeared in movies that don't fit anywhere in the manga or the anime. Super has done DB anime only references before, such as what you stated and seeing Gregory on King Kai's planet, but nothing from any of the movies before Battle of Gods has been referenced in the anime.

This arc's pace is reminding me of the Dressrosa arc of One Piece; not in a good way.

No even close. Dressrosa is the pinnacle of terrible pacing and even worse than Goku vs Freeza.

There's literally a time where Bellamy prepares to use his attack against Luffy and took some episodes for him to finally attack. And it wasn't something like the Genkidama, where the character has to gather a lot of energy, it was one of his normal attacks.
Comparing that to Dragon Ball is like having 5 episodes of Goku charging his Kamehameha divided by Ka(1ep) Me(1ep) Ha(1ep) Me(1ep) Ha!(1ep)

Since that arc One Piece merchandise should be focused in running citizens, because that's what you see the most when the battle against Doflamingo starts.

Well there will be inconsistencies, it's the same way Krillin saw Gohan in the Garlic Jr. movie but then acted shocked when he found out Goku had a son in the first DBZ episode, and then we have the Garlic Jr. saga in the anime after that.

It wouldn't be the first time a movie character got put into the main series.

Yet we have a 4D God Broly thing coming out....

Broly is big whether people like it or not. He's one of the most popular villains whether people like it or not. He's apparently relevant enough to constantly keep being used in supplementary material, constantly add new forms and stuff to him to expand his image, and get a new 4D movie attraction with him as the lead villain. 20 years ago or not, Broly like Bardock, has lasted the test of time which makes some happy and some very upset. Not to mention being in so many video games the fans are playing. Almost always has some form of importance or his own arc in them too, unlike the other movie villains which either aren't in at all, or not as privileged. He and Bardock are the only two to escape being in the pile of supplementary material and practically be used all the time everywhere.

I don't mind that this Tournament is taking a while to happen. It gives us more time for world building and more character interactions with Goku. I can see this arc ending in October, so we still have many time for fighting.

The Garlic Jr Saga is entirely filler though...as far as the main story is concerned it never happened.
