Yes but even though it belongs to DB Kai brand, Kai 2.0 came years later with a different production, so it was to be expected.HeroR wrote: There's also Kai 2.0.

Either Broly is canon or Super isn't. That's the only way they can exist in the same continuity. There's already a strong case to consider Super "non-canon" as it includes anime only "non-canon" characters that are considered a different continuity then the original manga. I'm excited to see if this happens. It would literally be one of the same arguments that people use to as proof of GT not being canon.Noah wrote:I'm pretty sure that Broly will never be canon.
This.
Broly never was introduced in the original manga, being mentioned in Super will not make him canon.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Why would Trunks' train with Goku? He show no interest and Goku taught no one the Spirit Bomb, not even his own son. And he did train with Vegeta. The anime just didn't waste an entire epsoide on it like the did with Gohan.Lord Frieza wrote:
Exactly, most of the problems with Trunks in that arc could be solved if given time. We could have had him train with Vegeta, have him learn from Goku, have time to build up SSR, have time for him to learn the Mafuba more realistically and have him learn Genki power ...not pull it out his ass.
A lot of what you named is just pointless padding. There was no story reason for Trunks to meet Goten, see the Fusion Dance, and waste our time with flashbacks of the Android/Cell Saga. I despised such things in Z. And why would Goku train Trunks? He didn't even train him during the Android/Cell Saga. And he wouldn't teach Trunks the Spirit Bomb either.emperior wrote: Future Trunks arc is literally a prime example of an awesome story being wasted by them rushing throught it. They could have bought so much time with static episodes (like the episode where Trunks meets Gohan) which would have helped with the production of the most important episodes.
We could have gotten things like Trunks meeting Goten, him explaining to Goten and Kid Trunks about what he did in the past (showing flashbacks of Androids/Cell arc - buying time) and then have them show him the fusion dance. They could also have him train with Vegeta and learn his moves (instead of randomly pulling them off). We could have gotten Goku training him, and telling him what happened after Cell Games and why he was brought back to life (this way he would also tell him about the Spirit Bomb, maybe even showcase him a little one). They had tons of occasions to do entertaining padding in that arc, instead we got too much Pilaf gang and a rushed story. I wonder how good it would have been if the current director was directing it. Not that it was bad, but there were tons of missed opportunities.
30 episodes would have been ideal for Future Trunks arc, in my opinion.
30 epsoides is too long for the Furure Trunks Saga, especially if all you're doing is filling time.

So, and correct me if I'm wrong here, you'd rather the total bs ass pull, out of nowhere, how the hell did he do that Genki sword.....over a reasonable explanation or build up?HeroR wrote:Why would Trunks' train with Goku? What I say in that post, are possibilites. Ways to give us a natural progression of of Trunks's power and abilites. Not what say "HAS TO HAPPEN". You HAVE to wast time in some episodes because those are not throw away power up that the character had X amount of time to learn, the Genki Sword and SSR are KEY plot elements that have zero build up or explanation. Even #17's explanation for how he got stronger is better regardless of how little effort was put into it.
Those were elements that needed an episode or good chunks of episodes to explain. Plus the speedy Mafuba learning he did to. The time not spent with Trunks is what hurt that arc.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I would rather the Spirit Bomb appearing to be explained since it's questionable if Trunks even consciously formed it given his surprise.Lord Frieza wrote:

What you named was mostly padding. Super Saiyan Rage doesn't really need an explaination since Goku pulled Super Saiyan 3 out of his butt. Trunks transforming from anger was all the explaination I really needed since rage base transformations are old hat at this point. Trunks knowing some of Vegeta's moves? They're not hard to learn since they're just energy attacks and Goku should've used the Evil Containment Wave over Trunks.
None of what you named needed an epsoide.
And overall, I prefer "rushed" over padding. Like people didn't like the Champa Saga's pacing, I personally found it fine. I didn't need or want an entire episode dedicated to Goku fighting Botamo or Frost, and I was happy with Vegeta one-shotting Frost. There was no fight I wished was longer.
As for Universal Survival Saga, the pacing has grind to a halt in many aspects and it's annoying at this point. Depending how this goes, these recruitment episodes could have been two to three episodes shorter. At this point, it feels like stalling.

Or super makes the Legendary Super Saiyan form cannon but not Broly. Her transformation bio is directed at us, the people outside the story who know who Broly is. Until someone says "she looks like Broly" in story then this debate cannot happen yet.TheMikado wrote:Either Broly is canon or Super isn't. That's the only way they can exist in the same continuity. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Goku has years in the other world to learn SS3, every other SS form had build up in its arc or had reasonable time to be developed between arcs. Rage is the single, sole exception to that rule. Look at Kale's LSS form is being treated for example and tell me that Rage was handled better.HeroR wrote:I would rather the Spirit Bomb appearing to be explained since it's questionable if Trunks even consciously formed it given his surprise.Lord Frieza wrote:

It took Goku a full night to learn the Evil Containment Wave. The guy who copyied the Kamehameha after seeing it once. Vegeta's movies are not exactly complicated are they? Their not discs, remote-control spheres, life-force blasts, drill beams or giant balls of ki formed from the power of everything earth that require skill to learn. All his attacks are flash beams of varying stance and color that are as simplistic as the Kamehameha.
All this sounds like is wanting to skip important parts of the story to get to the flash action. Sorry but if you write a story like that then it well make even what happened to Trunks in that arc look like a masterpiece by comparison.

When did this happen? The only thing we saw of his training is him not being able to aim it easily.Lord Frieza wrote: It took Goku a full night to learn the Evil Containment Wave.

Ok I'm gonna stop you right there for a sec. I believe my exact words were "Goku a full night to learn the Evil Containment Wave". Which it did.Kanassa wrote:That's not taking a whole day to learn it.Lord Frieza wrote:So thats not leaning it?Kanassa wrote: When did this happen? Edit: A full day is 24 hours. A full night depends on the time of year, currently were I am it will be night in a few minutes to half an hour (say 21:30) and it will be full light by about 06:00 in the mornings.
Thats about 09:30 hours total.

Ok let me put it another way. I can pick up a gun and fire it but my shot's all go wide of the make so I practice to master it.Kanassa wrote:And we still don't know this. Now dose that mean I know how to use a gun or am I learning? Thats the same logic I'm applying to the mafuba and Goku. Goku can fire it, but has very poor control so he has to learn it.

It looks like DBS initial plans are to be 8 volumes long

Trunks Arc will end in Volume 4, and 4 Volumes would be the perfect fit for the ToP.

So she achieved SSJ2 in what like 30 minutes? I wouldn't be surprised if she is SSB level when the tournament starts.
