Has Kale really been damaged by Kamehameha?

In the Kamehameha scene, was Kale really damaged from Goku?

After being hit by the Kamehameha and walking through it without taking damage (apparently), Kale grabs the face of Goku, but soon afterwards, she releases him and breathing out of his body.

After this, Piccolo says that she can not control her own strength.
Kale was this way because of the Kamehameha, which damaged her to the point that she could not control her strength (even though she did not pretend), or was she just out of control herself?
Remembering that this smoke usually comes from someone who has received a major power stroke

Anyways, to my understanding, no she didn't show any kind of problems whatsoever walking through the Kamehameha.. The smoke was there from her mouth when she freshly first charged at goku too, it's there to signify overflowing power surge happening..
