Any possibility that TOEI remasters the Dragon Ball GT TV-Special? Else, we'll just have to stick to what's already available.
Hm, P.S... The Mexican company called 'Zima' (or ZIMA, I dunno) released it on Blu-ray but looks pretty mediocre (an upscale).

It's not a movie, so I would say no for the movie box.JohnnyCashKami wrote:Any possibility that TOEI remasters the Dragon Ball GT TV-Special? Else, we'll just have to stick to what's already available.

Yeah, none of the TV specials will be remastered for this movie release. If Toei remaster the series, they most certainly will do the Z specials, though it is possible they may just use the Dragon Box masters for all the specials...sangofe wrote:It's not a movie, so I would say no for the movie box.JohnnyCashKami wrote:Any possibility that TOEI remasters the Dragon Ball GT TV-Special? But, as far as the GT special in particular is concerned... Well, assuiming they remaster the Z specials, then it's possible. I wouldn't say it's definite, since Toei used the original videotape master for the Dragon Box, but... Who knows.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

Do you know why GT's special was never released outside of the dragon box in Japan ? I find it odd that it got released internationally but not in its home country.Robo4900 wrote:Yeah, none of the TV specials will be remastered for this movie release. July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say lack of demand, being a film about a not-Goku set way into the future and is associated with GT. I would say the Jump Special is a far more popular anniversary piece.sintzu wrote:Do you know why GT's special was never released outside of the dragon box in Japan ? If TOEI are remastering the specials and the series (which they probably will) 'A Heroes Legacy' will probably be included with either. I could see it being released alongside Bardock and Trunks or with GT like Funi did with the green bricks. I'd like to see the former happen so we'll get it sooner rather than later, but then the latter would also be nice as it would mean a future MangaUK release of these remasters will include it (then again their first yellow brick differs from Funi's first blue brick with the inclusion of the BLT dub, so who knows).JohnnyCashKami wrote:Any possibility that TOEI remasters the Dragon Ball GT TV-Special? Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

To be fair, you should be focused more on Madman whom are the ones who author the DVDs and Blu-rays to PAL region (2/B) whereas Manga UK just takes what's done and gives it a cover with the BBFC and their own logo. Plus, if you check on the credits thru a DVD/BD you'll see Madman's the one credited.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote:If TOEI are remastering the specials and the series (which they probably will) 'A Heroes Legacy' will probably be included with either. This is probably a dumb and obvious question (and probably not ok to ask? if it isn't ok, you can delete this), but this is where you can buy and download them, right?

Yes, but I'd wait until the Blu-rays are released before buying to see if they include the better sounding audio from the master tapes that Dragon Box The Movies did, which as far as I know aren't present in both digital and streaming versions of these remasters.ConfusedPhantom wrote:This is probably a dumb and obvious question (and probably not ok to ask? if it isn't ok, you can delete this), but this is where you can buy and download them, right?

If you want to go digital with this, wait and see if it gets released on iTunes. That'll be the closest quality to the original, despite that compression is still made to it.ConfusedPhantom wrote:This is probably a dumb and obvious question (and probably not ok to ask? if it isn't ok, you can delete this), but this is where you can buy and download them, right?

4K movies on iTunes are said to look amazing and with great price tags so can't go wrong.
Besides, this is my go-to service to buy digital music from to own and redownload whenever needed. And Bandcamp (offers in FLAC), but that's more for indie musicians.

Typically iTunes video is vastly inferior to Amazon Video.

It's a pity that Toei adds masks during the shooting or the film is very old (aka colour cast), it has a yellowish appearance, like jaundice. What I understand the least is that it is easily correctable, and they distribute it that way ... as it happened with DBZ ... They really have some reason.
Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread
I can only notice that yellow color against the white, otherwise it's very difficult to notice. Well done on your efforts, though I have no idea how you spotted it most of it, cel comparison?

I dont have cels for comparison, its a shame.NinjaGoku wrote:I can only notice that yellow color against the white, otherwise it's very difficult to notice. Well done on your efforts, though I have no idea how you spotted it most of it, cel comparison?
Here more examples but light reduction yellow.

@overdrive
Looks better but imo it's only noticeable when put in comparison, otherwise it's hardly any different.

HOLY SHIT! The quality!
It's a wet dream to imagine the Series in a remaster like this. I saw a post back saying it's not possible due to their condition and not being 35MM but still..Imagine trying to remaster it this way.

Well, some parts of the movies do use footage from the series, meaning it's originally 16mm footage, so we can get an idea of what some material would look like, albeit cropped in this presentation.SuperSaiyanPan wrote:HOLY SHIT! The quality!

I would easily pay 250 for a DBZ set in 4:3 or if they insist upon cropping do selective cropping so you don't loose too much and if it had the Faulconer score I could die happy.Robo4900 wrote:Well, some parts of the movies do use footage from the series, meaning it's originally 16mm footage, so we can get an idea of what some material would look like, albeit cropped in this presentation.SuperSaiyanPan wrote:HOLY SHIT! Wouldn't have the US replacement music unless it was FUNimation releasing it with the added tracks for US and Canada.SuperSaiyanPan wrote:I would easily pay 250 for a DBZ set in 4:3 or if they insist upon cropping do selective cropping so you don't loose too much and if it had the Faulconer score I could die happy.Robo4900 wrote:Well, some parts of the movies do use footage from the series, meaning it's originally 16mm footage, so we can get an idea of what some material would look like, albeit cropped in this presentation.SuperSaiyanPan wrote:HOLY SHIT! Realistically, the added tracks are only really for the US. If they wanted to cater to Canada, they'd have to stop trying to sweep the Ocean dubs under the rug...JohnnyCashKami wrote:Wouldn't have the US replacement music unless it was FUNimation releasing it with the added tracks for US and Canada.SuperSaiyanPan wrote:I would easily pay 250 for a DBZ set in 4:3 or if they insist upon cropping do selective cropping so you don't loose too much and if it had the Faulconer score I could die happy.Robo4900 wrote: Well, some parts of the movies do use footage from the series, meaning it's originally 16mm footage, so we can get an idea of what some material would look like, albeit cropped in this presentation.
