I've never seen the Videl v Spopovich fight in animated form, so I'm curious to finally see why it upsets a lot of people when I watch that batch of episodes in prep for next week.

I think it's far tamer compared to the manga.

So, apparently on Giant Bomb's latest Unprofessional Friday (10/05/18), Jeff said they were not recording the latest episode until Monday morning and it won't be on the site until later than usual. He gave a rough estimate of 4 EST/1 PST.

Jeffgeta's midlife crisis and comments about Trunks had me dying.

I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

The latest episode is really heavy with wrestling references. The one thing I could not tell if they were serious or being facetious was the back-and-forth about Shawn Michaels. Are they really not aware Shawn is coming out of retirement to be in a tag match with Triple H to face The Undertaker and Kane in Saudi Arabia? On Dragon Ball-related material, I'm glad they picked up on Piccolo being a previous entrant of the tournament as "Majunior." But, they missed the mark as it is a reference to the fact he is the reincarnation/son of Demon King Piccolo (though they have not seen Dragon Ball, Demon King Piccolo has been referenced a couple of time throughout Kai).
Also, Kabito looking like Vigo the Carpathian from Ghostbusters II is a comparison that I never noticed until now.

I find it interesting how they just knew that Kaioshin was stronger than Piccolo based on the latter's reactions and deem him a super badass based on that. A lot of Piccolo fans try to downplay that scene, but a new viewer with no preconceptions just took it the natural way.

They're in for a big surprise when Kaioshin goes south :P
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

I think Piccolo's reaction was not because of how strong Shin was, but because of WHO Shin was.

It really has become a Dragon Ball review podcast viewed through a pro wrestling lense, and I can't get enough of it.

As for the Shawn thing, I get the feeling it was a bit of both.

Nah, Piccolo directly states that Shin is stronger than him which is further confirmed in out of universe databooks. From Herms:
Chapter: 439 (DBZ 245), P12.3-4
Context: after Piccolo resigns from his and Kaioshin's match
Goku: “That much, Piccolo?...”
Piccolo: “Yeah…Our dimensions…are too different…”
Kuririn: “Yo-you’re kidding, right? Stop joking around! I-I’ve got to fight him next.”
Note: Piccolo’s line is a pretty standard way of saying that someone is stronger than you. You can find a lot of instances of people being described as in “a different dimension” throughout these quotes, like Tenshinhan talking about Super Saiyan Goku, or the narrator describing final form Freeza.
The English translations always make this line vaguer than the original, which is why I found it interesting that the intent of the scene was so clear that the ASG guys instantly understood it even though it wasn't stated outright.

Wow! Dan and Jeff are not impressed by the villains of the Buu Saga (the name puns, especially)!

Also, Babidi = a fusion of a wet dog, Admiral Ackbar, and Yoda. That's a sight.

Okay, the bit with the Goku/Yakon and the Method Man torture skit is the funniest thing I've heard on this podcast
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Also, here is a link to the Chinese artificial moon project Dan and Jeff were talking about:
http://www.astronomy.com/news/2018/10/c ... cial-moons
By 2020, the Tian Fu New Area Science Society plans to launch an artificial moon to light up the night sky. If the plan goes through, the so-called “illumination satellite” would orbit above the Chinese city of Chengdu and glow in conjunction with the actual moon, but shine eight times brighter
I can't help but think of Bulma's machine from GT that she used to help Vegeta become SS4.

It was clearly both.

When does the next episode come out? the 29th?

New episode is up covering the Majin Vegeta vs Goku fight: https://www.giantbomb.com/podcasts/all- ... 1600-2504/

Unsurprisingly they loved the fight and the way Vegeta's character was handled by not being a complete drone/puppet to Babidi by maintaining control of his personality and desire to only fight Goku. The speech to Goku was another highlight for them.

They’ve been really lucky with the blocks they’ve been watching this in. This latest one was all Majin Vegeta, next is all Fat Buu, covering Dabura’s death, Vegeta’s sacrifice and Buu’s survival. I’m very curious what the reaction to that will be.

I am curious about what they will think of Buu in the next episode.
Buu is very unorthodox and goofy (at least this stage).
At the same, he can be terrifying.
