They cannot wait any longer to get a next-gen DBZ game out. There's already a Naruto game out and pretty much a One Piece game out, for the Wii. They know that, if they wait any longer, they'll be at a loss.

It makes perfect sense that they're releasing a game based entirely around the Saiya-Jin and Namek arcs. I don't blame them and I understand. I'm looking forward to playing and enjoying the game!

You realize that in a year they're most likely going to release Burst Limit 2 with Buu and everything...
Why bother to make this game at all then? I would think most fans want the game to go to the Buu Saga. Think about it, another year in development and we would probably have a game that has more characters and finer tuning along with maybe add some more cool ideas. I mean this is Atari trying get more money. They know most fans want to see a DBZ game on a next generation console and so Atari wants to release it as fast as they can. It is faster for them IMO to get this out there (due to less content) so they can milk DBZ more. I understand why they would do it, but it doesn't mean I like it. This game looks like a rental to me.
Get Burst Limit this year and then have Burst Limit 2 next year? Or get nothing this year and technically get Burst Limit 2 next year? Hmmm.....I'de rather have somthing this year rather than nothing. And I agree that it's a good idea to rent this game if you don't feel like buying it. That way, it's like your playing a demo for Burst Limit 2.

It think there is more to do with it than just money.

Like with the previous budokai series they realse this one first to see what we think of the fighting system, Story mode and just overall game. If we do not like something it normally gets improved or taken out.

Now i really want the buu saga too but the Buu saga is more than just "more characters" They to figure out how they want to use Fusion. Will it be timed? What will the animation look like? How do the create a new charracter by letting others fuse?

Then you have Buu. Will he turn people to chocolate? How can you implement that with out it been cheesy? How do you handle him eating the candy if it's added?

That's a sweet idea except you'd probably have to have 2, a PS3 tournament and a Xbox360 tournament. I doubt it will let you play the game online across different consoles. I think Final Fantasy XI is the only game that lets you do that.

A bit off topic, but on topic as well.

This game just doesn't appeal to me. Lets take a look at whats on the Daizex front page.
*Both the English (FUNimation) and original Japanese cast are selectable (no word on the music)
*There will be subtitles if you wish on the Japanese language track (accurate translations / non-dubtitles, we hope?)
*The game covers the Saiya-jin arc to the end of Cell
*There will be the so-called "in-game transformations"
* Story elements are via in-game engine cut-scenes
*Simultaneous release on the PS3 & Xbox 360 in July (kinda figured this one)
*No plans for downloadable content
*There will be achievements (also obvious)
*No destructible environments
The lack of destructible environments is a huge turn off for me. Is taking one of the better elements of the previous games away.

Also, the storyline. This is just a personal reason, really, but the lack of the Buu Saga really turns me away from this game, because my two favorites (Gohan and Videl) won't be in the game. (I know, I know. Kid Gohan is in there, but I never liked the little guy. Just adult Gohan.) They could fix this little issue, but the lack of downloadable extras pretty much kills that hope.

So, at this point, I'm just hoping a Tenkaichi 4 comes out.

We're assuming the lack of destructable environments stretchs to landscapes being levelled after ultimate attacks, that counts.

I'm actually talking about the Tenkaichi series. The Budokai games... Meh, they never really appealed to me.

Well the Tenkaichi games aren't really Budokai games anyways.

Exactly my point. Hence why I leave out the "Budokai" when talking about the Tenkaichi series.

Anyways, I like the gameplay style in those much better than the Budokai series. Its faster, and, in my opinion, closer to the battle style seen in the show itself.

That, and the range of characters. That allows me the privilege of using adult Gohan to put a beatdown on his annoying child counterpart.

You could do that in all the Budokai's, as well as Super DBZ.

Just sayin'.

This isn't a Tenkaichi VS. Budokai thread.

I think I 'll be getting a 360 over the course of the next few months, as well as a Wii, so I may end up owning this after all. But only if the reviews are decent, considering it looks to be Budokai 3 with a new graphics engine and all the Buu arc gone.

I hate to go off topic again, but seriously. Thats the dumbest excuse I've ever heard for not trying a game.

Screw the reviews. Play the game and form your own damn opinion, instead of relying on some high school dropout who works for a magazine.

The PS3 is Region Free right? Does that mean if I own an American PS3, I can purchase a Japanese imported game and play it on my PS3?

Yes ps3 games are Region Free. Ps2 and Bluray though are not. But yes you can import Japanese games and play it in usa. If it has DLC you can even go on the Japanese DLC site and get any DLC for the game (you need to use Japanese DLC for Japanese game , USA DLC for USA games ect..)

And Rory I would get the Japanese for the music BUT unless they get extra characters I'll get usa or uk just because my friends and my brother like to play with english voices (I normally switch it when they leave LOL)

I fully intend to try it for myself, but considering I don't have a lot of time and money to spend on video games anymore, I don't usually pick up any ol' fighter and invest my time in it for very long. If anything, I'll rent it, but as I said... my time is finite, even if my love of the series in considerable.

I disagree with this whole "anti-reviewer" attitude much of the internet seems to hold.

We all know that everything is a matter of opinion, but reading a few respectable reviews -will- give you a good idea of what you're in for. There's nothing wrong with researching a product beforehand based on another persons experiences.

I know Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans are horrible wastes of movie. I have not seen either of them. I am not a failure as a person because of this.
