My standards for the show are as high as yours or anyone else’s on this forum, but my expectations are more realistic. I understand why we’ve gotten what we’ve gotten.ProjectAlpha22 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 8:50 pmI don’t know your definition of a ton, but I don’t think it matches my definition. As someone who just literally read through everything past the date of the full initial announcement, I counted less than 10 times if even that it was brought up. As for your earlier statement of “adapting Dragon Ball to modern times”, there are countless sets that match your standards. This set is being sold as a set for the “hardcore fans”, not the average consumer. Thus the low amount being produced, and all the fancy extras. It’s basically a giant pre-order package. For that reason, the argument of “Adapting with the times” doesn’t fit. It’s like telling a big fan of the Star Wars movies to buy a 600 dollar set of the original trilogy with only the George Lucas editions because “it’s the newest version.” The average consumer may not care, but we’re not exactly talking about the average consumer here, are we?

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Clearly your standards aren't really high but rather you'll take whatever and call it a day. How is it unrealistic for us to demand that FUNimation releases the show without fucking it up? They could even release it in its raw form and that would be superb.
FUNimation is just being stubborn and a cheapskate unnecessarily. This set is not a true hardcore release.
Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I mean, we have received better than this in the past, so why is it unrealistic to expect better than what the Black Brick has shown us?

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I'm glad i have the Dragon Boxes, because it seems that FUNi just can't seem to leave the series as is because they want to do a bunch of stupid crap to their releases that i frankly find pointless.KBABZ wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 11:28 pmPffft, says the guy with the French DVDs!JohnnyCashKami wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 11:09 pmClearly your standards aren't really high but rather you'll take whatever and call it a day.
DB collection related goals as of now:
1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)
2.) Collect rest of manga
3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
So in terms of how FUNimation remastered each of their Dragon Ball Z releases this is the current list and that they show it behind the scenes:
• Dragon Ball Z: Season Sets (DVD)
• Dragon Ball Z: Season Sets (Blu-ray) [Season 4, Disc 6]
• Dragon Ball Z: Level Sets (Blu-ray) [1.1, Disc 2]
Don't know if they included an interview about it on any of the UUE DVDs. They'll probably include an interview on the Black Brick Set too.
If someone could confirm on which disc of the Orange Bricks they show and explain the remaster, I'd appreciate. I've seen it but it was on YouTube.

Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

FUNimation somehow thought the Orange Bricks were a decent product and released them. Sigh, even the "remastered" footage on that interview looked like shit. I'd say Season 9 (DVD) was the only semi-competent release and even then it was cropped too.

That's the standard at least so it's fair to assume so. I decided to purchase DBZ Season 4 on Blu-ray but I'm keeping the Slipcover + Disc 6, the rest goes on eBay.eledoremassis02 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 12:15 amI assume so, I dont actually have the orange bricks

Yeah, I know it was a joke. But on a serious note, that French DBZ footage was reaaaalllly zoomed in, even the tree on the left was almost removed entirely.

I think that footage might even be squashed horizontally; I felt that way with the show of Goku and Gohan on the Nimbus.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Found this screenshot from looks like to be the Level sets, but I don't know if it's because it's not full resolution or someone tried to DNR. But I dont see much grain, and if they want to remove grain, this is what the final outcome should look like I think
Sadly, it's not the same shot but
If this is from the Level sets maybe we can tweet FUNi that if they are going to DNR we'd like something like this?

French DVDs of what? There are two different releases for both DBZ and Kai.

I mean, you seem to have enjoyed the first (American) remake of Kimba the White Lion well enough.
