I've said it before on here, and I'll say it again: Dragon Ball is entertainment, and thus it should be a good time. If you're not having a good time, you absolutely should invest your time and energy elsewhere.

Life's too short and there's too many cool things out there for any of us to be wasting time on stuff that's only frustrating.
"Perfect" is the enemy of the good. True for Cell and true for real life.
Don't forget to slow down and enjoy yourself.

But what sparked my post was the ethinicity of characters in the show like Kakarot, Vegeta and the other Saiyans as well as Tien, Yamcha, Bulma, Krillin, 18, 17 and others that debate is getting real nasty I'm concerned.
Man, let me tell you something. I've been frequenting Dragon Ball forums since 2004. That particular debate has always been problematic. Either people go by the source material, or by looks, or by personal views or preferences, much like with any other subjects.

You should see how much GT fans were absolutely smashed sometimes for liking it in ye old days, and this seems to have stopped with Dragonball Super. As soon as something new comes, hate is directed to it and people become nostalgic about anything hated from before. That's in my opinion pretty common. Hell, some people may have been kinda ambivalent to the original Star Wars trilogy and became haters when the prequels were released (episode 1-3) and self-proclaimed knights to protect the original trilogy.

What I do is to engage with reasonable people and ignore the rest. Mostly.
What has changed is that people bring too much shit from their private lives and apply it to discussions and bring the discussion off course. I will make the sin as well with this:
"Touch the grass" is a way to describe how to act when coming in contact with a problem, not ableist. It's only ableist if you take the phrase literally. Wouldn't "get down to Earth" be ableist, since some disabilities (or for many socioeconomic issues) lead to not being able to become an astronaut? With this, the phrase would by definition be ableist. Or it means "come back to reality". Is using the phrase "it's not rocket science" discriminatory to other professions that use a lot of skill and knowledge which is equal to the one used in rocket research?
Give me a break!

Good advice.

Yes, seemingly harmless idioms and expressions can in fact be discriminatory and oppressive.

It doesn't matter how one individual or individuals might take the phrase. The phrase always carries its meanings, both literal and figurative, no matter the context.

This does not mean that using these expressions is always worth making an issue over, necessarily. That all depends.

In essence, touch grass.
You don't have to use an ableist phrase like "touch grass".
Please tell me you are doing a bit.

I'm a leftist who has a sympathy for like liberal representation and social justice stuff/language stuff... but like... come on that's a common parlance thing.

That's like scolding someone for telling someone to "open their eyes" as being ableist to the blind.

Even people in wheelchairs can go outside, unless we don't want to offend the Agrophobic disabled people.

This kinda thing is just self indulgent woke-scolding that alienates and prevents progress by way of people not taking any of it seriously.
My god Toby I love you. I was just about to say this, although not nearly as well as you put it.

We need an off topic sub forum where there’s a single post about socialism vs capitalism, that way there’ll never be any conflict in the main sections of the forums, some of us will spend all our time there

I never met a "toxic community". If someone tell me that I'm dumb, is not toxic. Maybe I AM dumb for real. And maybe you *are* dumb, who knows.
I dunno, really, sometime it look that people approach reality like the warm cuddles of their mum, expecting to get affirmative replies to their assertions the whole time. Go to school, go to Church, do the 'right thing', nothing will hurt you and if something does it's implictly 'bad'. Maybe it isn't. Maybe it's life, a dirty puddle of 'opinions' that people sell as truths only to feel satisfied. And you cannot win against humanity.
Probably no one in this Universe will admit 100% that you are right and he's wrong. Fair debate is mythological. So don't go into debates, go searching for knowledge.
I learned english listening to songs. So I don't know anything about. The day you had to learn play piano by just listening .mp3, you'll understand.

Hmm I'd say you make an astute observation.
