I can't even enjoy it in a "so bad it's good way" - although I guess I do like the start where 18 is arguing/threatening Mr Satan and then the beginning of the "tournament" seemed to promise something quite a lot better than a purple blob in a factory full of INFINITE GUNK, in fact, MAGIC INFINITE GUNK that would kill even SSJ4 Gogeta. No offence to the people that do like it; please explain why you like it and I'll genuinely listen and try to see it from that point of view.
I like the fact that it's totally different than all of the other Dragonball films. The lab setting was cool and Broly was turned into a parody cause you know Dragonball is gag manga. Trunks and Goten beat the Broly mess by using their brains and not some random "pull this funky ki attack out my ass" move. It had a great score and lesser known characters got their time to shine. I loved the movie and it's my second favorite of all the movies. People hate it because they were expected another Broly rampage and what they got was a rampaging mess of a villian. That villian being totally different than all the other ones. Toei does something different and then people shit on it in favor of another cookie cutter Dragonball movie.
The problem is that it pretty much copied every cheesy sci-fi horror film, and the design of Bio-Broly is just atrocious. And not only that, but Broly didn't need a third movie. Hell, he didn't even need a second one.

I'm not especially a fan of Broly, but I always considered him to be one of the greatest movies since for the first time, it is clearly shown that the enemy surpasses everybody from VERY far.

For the first time, the warriors face an enemy who doesn't play, who strikes to kill as quickly and efficiently as possible. First, Goku and friends don't even try to face him and try to run away, until he says something like "fight back or I blow up the whole planet". Then they all turn in Super Saiyan, and when a usual battle would take the most part of the movie, they all get KO in a few minutes. If it wasn't for Piccolo's intervention, they'd all have been dead in ten minutes at most, without having scratching him.

Piccolo comes, heals everyone, second round is on. Things getting better? Nope, everybody getting KO in a few minutes, still no scratch on the enemy, even with a powerful Kame Hame Ha right in front of him, which leaves Goku completely astonished. Conclusion: for the first time, the heroes are COMPLETELY helpless and haven't hurt the enemy even just a little bit. Never a situation felt so desperate, and it is obviously a nightmare: an enemy way more powerful, and getting even more powerful as time goes by, who doesn't hold back at all making them KO in a few minutes (even Goku who is not used to it even says "Hey, don't you know you're supposed to hold back a little?" before Broly says "Hold back? What does that expression mean?") and unable to be hurt even when not even protecting himself.

So this movie is interesting not only because it involves an "investigation" part during its whole first part, but because it has a theme that's never been explored: what if this time, there was simply the maximum threat - an enemy that lives only to destroy anything quickly (meaning the heroes don't have time to play around cause they know they'll be KO in three minutes if they don't go all out and find what works against him in just 3 minutes) and who can't be hurt at all?

Of course, the ending was thought conveniently to find a solution to this extreme situation: it happens that the characters can give their powers to another (already explored in movie 4 with the Piccolo/Goku "fusion"), somehow resulting in what could be comparable to a fusion of four characters, which THEN can hurt him at least enough for a single fatal hit.

Like other friends, I don't like so much the other movies involving this character: first, he is overused, it's like an easy way to say "that character worked, let's find a cheap way to bring him back". Having three times the same enemy in three different movies is a bit much. Then, he's lost what made him unique when he comes back: now just like any other villain, he takes time to play with the kids instead of going all out, full power, with the intention to immediately kill anyone and anything he sees right away, which is what made him dangerous and interesting in the first movie.

So both the movie and the characters are interesting if you only take the first movie in account, though not enough to bow before him. It's also a shame that in the games, he often can only says "Kakarotto", sounds like a real parody. In the movie, unless it's during his "untransformed" time when he feels the rage increasing seeing Goku, he has a certain amount of sentences which show his psychopath side, it is obvious that unlike the usual villains who have a goal and normal psychological process, Broly is just happy when he destroys everything and everyone, there's no reason in him, he's really only just the true definition of a monster. They could use more of these sentences in games to show that like in the movie, because going always "Kakarotto Kakarotto Kakarotto" just makes him ridiculous. Those who are not familiar with the movie would surely consider him a dumb pile of muscles instead of what he's supposed to be shown as: an invincible psychopath.

I'll throw you a bone, there. Videl's best moment not with Spopobitch, it's with Broli.

Does not that say Broli--despite actively trying to kill the four Super Saiyan and one Super Namek, could not kill them? If it took an 'going all-out' Broli that long simply to damage his foes, doesn't that make him pretty weak in comparison to, say, Perfect Cell who held back against and arguably stronger Gokû than the one presented in the film?

There's a lot of signs that point to the Super Saiyans in movie 8 NOT being their Cell Games selves, and in fact much weaker. That said, I don't think Broly is even as strong as even a lot of his non-fans make him out to be. He's probably about as strong as Perfect Cell when he first transformed, and was suppressed and beating on Vegeta.

I used to think Broly was epic, because he rocked in Budoukai 3.

Then I watched Movie 11..

Merchanise name tags arn't the best basis for naming conventions, they switch from "BEGETA" to "Vegeta" in the drop of a hat.

Well, given that even the pre-Cell game "resting days" incarnations of the characters have trouble, I always considered he was more powerful than them, but would be outclassed by Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. But it's only a personal theory, there'll never be any proof of that I guess.

Movie 11 is the worst one! Try 8, its the only one with a back story. 10 pokes fun at Broly by making things less serious and 11 is just....*Sigh*...
