They clearly don't understand that just because both are shonen that doesn't mean they are even related. Two different authors with two different stories. It just so happens that one author worships the other, and the other just started writing so he wouldn't have to steal from his mother's purse.
Do those fans even know how crazy Oda is for Toriyama? I'm sure that he came in his pants while creating Cross Epoch. I mean, in One Piece: Color Walk 1, the guy had an interview with Toriyama and sounded like a crazed fanboy, for the most part. He's worse than most of us.

Well I wouldn't blame them. Dragonball is the manga that Naruto and/or One Piece fans love to hate. But had Dragonball never existed, neither One Piece, Naruto and probably Bleach and Yu Yu Hakusho would be as successful as they are now.

The idea that Eichiro Oda is possibly an even bigger DragonBall and Toriyama fanboy than most or all people on this forum is oddly both humorous and comforting at the same time.

Hmmm...I just read through most of the APfourms thread and was under the impression that most of them liked Dragonball as well (just not as much as OnePiece).

I think one of the funniest things some One Piece Japanese purists have complained about its dub was that the cast sound like they're from Dragon Ball Z (while not too far from the truth, only a few voices actually sound similar to their DB voices).

When in reality, they don't seem to understand that the Japanese version is LITTERED with seiyuu who did voices for the DB series'.

Yes!!

I didn't realize Ginyu Was Kuma, and I didn't realize Hiromi Tsuru was Shakky!! XD

Knew most of the others too (Cept Farmer With a Shotgun, he wasn't around long enough for me to pick up...)

That's another reason I love the FUNi Dub of DBZ, they inadvertantly preserve that DB Voice carry over situation XD

Also, It would be hysterical, but I wana see Sean Schemmel do a Dr. Kureha Line...
Even if it's just asking him at a Con, I think that would be produce some utterly riotous laughter.

Could anyone here imagine Schemmel doing his best Old Lady Impression and saying "You Kids Wana know the Secret to my Youth?!"

I didn't really know that the thread was gonna turn into a big debate about whether or not One piece is better than Dragonball. I just set out to discuss the series' closeness and/or similarities.
