Ditto. It's going to be even more interesting when you guys get a dub actor on board. Kyle Herbert? Chris Sabat? Sean Schemmel? Looking forward to that whenever it comes out.

Oh look, I had three people gang up on me. That was certainly necessary.
Look, hindsight is 20/20. It's extremely easy to go back now and say that the idea that there would only be 50 episodes was flawed, but given what we knew up until a few days ago, it was the only natural thing to assume. Or, rather, we had no reason to believe that it would continue past 50 episodes. Should some people have not gone around and acted like it was a fact? Yes. Does that mean that everybody did? Not by a long shot. I don't know what websites or message boards you guys have been visiting, but everyone I've seen mention the 50 episode thing outside of Daizenshuu EX has always used qualifiers like "it seems like..." and "the current theory is..." to denote that it's not some indisputable fact.
It's the attitude toward the people who believed the theory annoyed me, not the fact that the theory was proven false.

You specifically addressed two sites by name, had three of the four people who maintain those sites answer your accusation/inquiry/question, two of which were on the podcast you're replying to, and all of which are active on this forum. I don't see why you didn't expect them to respond to you.Dogasu wrote:Oh look, I had three people gang up on me. That was certainly necessary.

It's not something we just started up. Hujio and I have been pointing out the baselessness of the rumor since it first appeared.Dogasu wrote:Look, hindsight is 20/20. But there was never any real reason in the first place to think that it would end at 50 episodes, other than a tenative DVD schedule, which means little.Or, rather, we had no reason to believe that it would continue past 50 episodes.
Well, I don't recall saying that everybody did that, just that many did, enough to be a problem. It was quite common in the Kai thread here to see people refer matter-of-factly to Kai's immediate end. While it's nice that people on other websites were more careful with their facts, this podcast is, well, the Daizenshuu EX podcast, and is I think it's safe to say targeted primarily at the visitors of the Daizenshuu EX site and forums.Should some people have not gone around and acted like it was a fact? I think Kendamu makes a good point about the episode count of the upcoming Dragon Ball "Z" Kai Season 1, Part 1. I can certainly see FUNimation going with 8 episode "1/2 season sets." After all this is a new acquisition for FUNi so, they want to make money. That would increase the amount of sets to be released by about 5. If they were to release 13 episode sets it would be about 7-8 sets. With 8 episode sets were looking at 12-13 sets. That is of course if the listings are correct about 1/2 season sets at all. In hind site that is a great deal. Considering the price will be about $50 for 8 episodes. In Japan you'll be paying ¥15,960 = $179 for 12 episodes. As long as FUNi keeps it fullscreen for the Blu-Ray release, I wont have to spend nearly as much as I would if had to buy them from CDJapan.

Funimation's Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood blu-ray is 325 minutes (13 episodes) for $54.98 according to Amazon.com. Since Dragon Ball Z Kai is also $54.98, perhaps it'll also be 13 episodes. Though, I'd prefer if they broke it down by story arc.
So then it would be:
Saiyan arc (part one): 1~8 (eight episodes)
Saiyan arc (part two): 9~16 (eight episodes)
Namek arc (part one): 17~23 (seven episodes)
Namek arc (part two): 24~30 (seven episodes)
Et cetera.
They'll still probably call them "seasons" though.

Blood would flow in the steets if they did that. Nigh sixty bucks for only seven or eight episodes when thirteen episodes can be bought for a different series for the same price? No way, José.linkdude20002001 wrote:Funimation's Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood blu-ray is 325 minutes (13 episodes) for $54.98 according to Amazon.com. We already know they're going with the Season X Part X model and that's the biggest bang for our buck.
Re: Episode #0208 (07 February 2010)
With how short everything is, I'd bet they'll count the overall entire Saiyans -> Freeza "arc" as Season One, then Trunks -> Cell as Season Two, then Saiyaman -> Majin Boo as Season Three. Much like with One Piece, where FUNimation considers the entire East Blue arc as 'Season One,' Baroque Works as 'Season Two,' Skypiea as 'Season Three,' and so forth, despite each one being comprised of multiple smaller "arcs" within it.
If that ends up being the case, then 'Season One, Part One' might consist of 13 or so episodes much like One Piece and a lot of FUNi's other properties, and an entire 'Season' could be finished off in three, maybe four parts. Which would make a lot more considering the price.

Dragon Ball ended in 1997.

I never really thought of it before but, I'm pretty much in the same boat with Gozar. I can watch the dub and the original Japanese version and enjoy both. I'm totally aware of the horrible dialogue in the dub, but I did kinda like that re-dub they for seasons 1 and 2. Ultimately though if I had to pick one version to live with I'd have to go with the Japanese version. Sometimes I just need to hear that awesome Freeza laugh, Oh Ho ho ho ho ho ho! I've also bought every DragonBall DVD release FUNimation has put out and I would buy some DragonBox singles every now and then.
