Thanks again for reading my email guys! Just some things for clarification:

You guys said that you couldn't think of a theme that seems to be Goku's theme. The theme I was referring to here is the piece that plays for instance in movie 8 when Goku is walking towards Broly to fight him (right before everyone gives him their energy), the piece that plays when he "kills" Broly (in fact it plays twice), and the piece that plays when Goku fights Hildegarn as SSJ3 and later kills him in movie 13. That general tune seems to play when Goku is the focus of the scene so I identify it as being Goku's theme.

Also, there are quite a few tracks from movie 9 that are used in the series, it's mostly used in the Buu arc, and Kenisu does list the stuff that's used from that movie. And movie 13 music is used in the series as well, but it's in like, the last two episodes of Z. And again, Kenisu does list those tracks that are used in his guide.

Sorry for coming off as a know it all, I just wanted to correct facts and clarify things.

I just ordered mine last night. I can hardly wait.

I notice a lot of music from the movies in the TV series, too, which bothered me a little more in the Buu arc, because there seems to be far less original music for that arc than with the previous ones. Not that it isn't great music, but when you're hearing either a reprise of "We Gotta Powaa", "We Were Angels", or music from movie 9 (that's where they used it, the Buu arc), you start to get a little frustrated.

I wish the club president told you which language track they use for their viewings.

I don't know how I missed the movie 9 documentation. I guess I associate the music exclusively with that movie (since I watched it so freakin' much in my younger days~) and didn't see anything as I was scanning through. My badz~

The best use is when Dai Kaioshin gives his life to Goku and they use the bit from when Gohan and Bojack are facing off. Everyone's real serious, because he collapses, dead, and then the Kaioshin pops up a second later telling Goku not to waste time.

With the Fullmetal Alchemist anime guide books Viz released, they did have to credit Funimation, and get their approval.

Who isn't playing it? Aside from those playing HeartGold.

Great job on the DragonBall Z club segment. It was one of the most interesting in a while. Did Ms. Rosier forget to answer what version they watch in the DBZ club or did I just miss it?

Woohoo! Zelda mention :D.

Anyway, great job with the DragonBall Z club stuff. I just wanted to clarify something that Amber said about Vegeta and Nappa and that is: she said Vegeta killed Nappa because he was paralysed and it was better for him; is that how it is in the original version or just her defending Vegeta as a whole?

If what she said is true then I am actually going to stop watching the dub version.

In the original version, Vegeta says that he (Vegeta) "doesn't need a Saiyan who can't move".

Hmm. So it's more of a 'you're useless to me now' than sympathy?

Kind of like a gimp horse on a farm. Saiyans have one purpose in life and that's to fight. If you mess up so badly that you can't even stagger to your feet you no longer have a reason to live. You're a worthless. We also see this when Vegeta destroys a Saibaman after it had lost a fight. Vegeta treats his comrades like tools, if you aren't working properly he'll move on. He's the most important solider in Freeza's army next to Zarbon,Dodoria and the Ginyu Force he can get any help he desires.

Gohan has a theme. It's a cutesy little leitmotif that spans about ten or so different pieces of BGM (including the weirdly-used bit from Movie 2 where he, Piccolo and Kuririn charge in and attack Dr. Willow in the sky), and there's even a track on disc 1 of the BGM Collection devoted entirely to pieces with this theme.

Vegeta's leitmotif, specifically the Movie 7 version, gets used a few times in the Boo arc (I seem to remember it being in the episode where he and Goku are trying to escape Boo's body, as they look for an exit).

And for my part, I always sort of had it in my head that closer to 85-90% of the TV series' music was comprised of movie BGM, but I guess that's just me. The first several episodes of either theme song "era" (that is to say, when they were using "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" as the OP versus when they were using "We Gotta Power") tend to feature more made-for-TV BGM, primarily because Kikuchi happened to be brought on to compose another handful or two of pieces, but after a while, they pretty much go batpoop-crazy with the movie music.

For the record, Pokemon (in Japan) also carries the trend of using music from the movies later on in the series. I wish I was playing SoulSilver. :(

Anyway, thanks for linking me, guys... I looked in on my site's stats today and saw that my visitor stats had shot up, so I'm all like, "Whoap, somebody's linked me again!" :)

You know, after many many episodes of things that were directly related to the show, it's nice to finally have an episode that deals with something out of fandom. I would totally join the club. :D

You know, I think this episode finally did something to me. I've, for quite some time now, had, well not a rant, per se, but a verystrong opinion on a certain aspect of the fandom, and I think the one dub email you guys read finally did it for me, and I'm gonna let this off my chest.

I guess the best way to start this off would be: VegettoEX, how can you say that you cover "anything and everything Dragonball" when you don't cover the dub?

You speak English. You run an English website. Granted, this doesn't mean you SHOULD be familiar with dubs (Because then it's the whole "I'm American and I only watch American Animes" stuff, and that's not where I'm going with this), but, don't you find it somewhat unfair that the arguably best English DB forum on the internet is somewhat anti-English dub?

I mean, you focus on the Japanese version, which is fine I suppose, but at the same time, you've even admitted that the vast majority of your listeners (And I guess website visitors) are dub fans. Again, isn't it unfair to alienate them like this simply because you're not a fan of that particualr version of the show?

Now, what I said above is NOT the point I'm trying to make, but rather the setup to my actual opinion, just to make that clear.

You're not a dub fan, and because of that, you don't feel qualified to answer Chris' email. You know what? That's fine. I mean, if I've no expierence with something, naturally I'll shy away from such questions. However, you run a podcast, a forum, and a website. As such, you have a large community full of fans.

Do you think that it would be too much to just have a dub... well, not -specific, but -focused episode for once, by bringing people on that know about the dub?

I mean, you've brought on people before that had more expierence about a certain area of fandom that you yourself are unfamiliar with (i.e., power levels). I can think of 4 people right off the bat who might fit this bill, and I'm sure it would make quite an interesting episode, with the dub fans putting on the table what they have to offer those who aren't fans of the dub.

You know what this situation reminds me of? Way, way back on episode 1 of vgconvos (Remember when you used to do that show, Mike? XD), Andrew Deluxe was commenting on how everyone seemed to love GTAIV, and how now one was seeming to give a negative opinion. Branching off of this, it was said that most people who review games tend to be the same as far as preferences go, and that certain folks wouldn't review games because they would say "Oh, well, I don't play/like that type of game, and therefore, I wouldn't be able to give a good opinion on it."

But see, I think you need that type of opinion. Now you could say "We, we don't like the dub music." I mean, that is an opinion, right?

Well, in all honesty Mike, have you ever sat down and really listened to any of the Faulconer CD's? Becuase I'll be honest and upfront with you, I actually bought the LEGEND OF DRAGONWORLD set, the Dragonball & Dragonball Z Daizenshuu set, and the Dragonball Z BGM Collection (LOTS OF MONEY GONE RIGHT THERE), so I could give Kikuchi's music a chance. And that's just something I don't see on Daizenshuu EX The Podcast, and it really saddens me to no end. Which is why I would love a podcast episode like the one I mentioned above.

In other words, why don't you have a dub music discussion with dub fans? I'm sure it would be fantastic. Just like with the MROA, you could be the newbie who doesn't know much first, and then gradually learn about it.

If after that you don't like it, well, what can we do? XD
