Which game is this going to be?

Hey, folks. Wasted Wisher here, and it's been a while since I was last here.

So, I reckon that there's going to be a new Dragonball game coming out, not that I can get in on the fun since I don't have any of the current-gen game systems yet (still on my PS2, which I still love).

Thing is, our studio has been told recently that they'll be given some work for new Dragonball animation...about thirty minutes worth of new animation. I was told that these were for some videogame, but I don't know which.

Most of the work will be for the key animators, but I certainly hope some it trickles down to the in-between animators so I can get my hands on it. They've already passed around some scenes from the new Digimon and Hannah Montana series and I still haven't been able to draw anything from these shows.

If it's Raging Blast 2, that may have at least partially sold me on getting the game.
If it's Tag, I don't have a PSP so I'll just check out the clips whenever they surface.
I can only wish that this increase in interest by Toei of making brand new DB animation means they could consider making a new movie/special or another Jump Tour special.

Wait, isn't Hannah Montana a live action series?

If you get anymore info please try to say what you can. I wonder if it'll be used for a story in the game...?

Actually, we're working on the first episode of a Hannah Montana anime. Dunno how many episodes it will be.
The project was given to Toei last year, but they wanted to see first which art style would suit it best. Four different artists made the final cut, and I distinctly remember two short music videos being made, each using different art styles from two of the finalists.
I suppose it's ok to talk about it now since production is underway, meaning everyone will know about it soon enough in a couple of months or so.

Back to the Dragonball game: dunno much about it, but if the animated cutscenes total to about half an hour's worth, then I guess a lot of it will be for some kind of "story mode" within the game.

Oh yeah. I liked the animation in that opening more than Budokai 3's.

I'm sure not if I should be happy a DBZ game will have animation again or depressed that Toei is seriously creating a Hannah Montana anime.

Yeah, 30 minutes certainly sounds like more than an intro or two. It'll be cool if they're actually animating some new story elements for a game.

Any chance you could take some pics of the animation process if you do get your hands on it? You know, something to share with your fellow Daizexers...whom you love so much?

A Hannah Montana anime....I trapped between laughing and facepalming. I'll still watch it out of curiosity, though.

I think it's fairly obvious that the new animations will be for the Raging Blast 2 storymode cutscenes. Remember, when the game was announced, it said that it basically ditched traditional cutscenes and now it tells the story as it unfolds.

Sure, along with an original never-before-seen OVA.

My guess is Tag VS. Since the first Raging Blast was 3D, I'm guessing that the sequel will follow suit.

It'd certainly be cheaper on the PSP since they'd be animating in standard definition. It's probably played into why none of the current gen games have had animated intros.

Hey Wasted Wisher, do you know if the new animation is being done in high definition? We could determine which game the animation is being made for based on that.

That doesn't sound like using animated cutscenes, that sounds like what BT3 did with story events occurring in the battle.
