Ki control on the level showcased in DB arguably falls under "spiritism", too. And both the 23rd and 25th tournament are filled with "spiritual" material.

Not trying to mini-mod but I think we should try to back away from religious discussions.

Can't we just agree that it's fictional? I'm a catholic and I still watch all of Dragon Ball. It's a good series even with spiritism.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Father: He doesn't mind with me about anime/manga I like as one of my interests and he doesn't care too.

Sister: She doesn't know about anime/manga, but she knows I love DBZ dvds, games, and mangas so she doesn't care.

Mother: She knows I'm a DBZ fan since I was a kid. I asked her to buy a Chrono Trigger DS game for me at Christmas last year, I think.

One of my Uncles asked me about the "H"-word that he've heard from his friends or something that made me  I told him about "that" so he's like, "Oh, I see.".

My mom and dad like Dragon Ball, actually I think it's safe to say that they are just as big fans of Dragon Ball as I am. The rest of my family may not be huge fans but they do like it at least.
I'll come up with something clever. Just not now.

My folks are used to my fandom after all these years. I'm a 22 year old... thing and I still enjoy Dragon Ball the way I did the first time I saw it. :) I'm not into anime in general that much anymore, but Dragon Ball is going to be the one thing I'll cherish until the end of my life and that is a promise I have made to myself a long time ago.

So, generally, my parents still ridicule me for my love of it every now and then. When they see me bringing home figures and new DVDs, they're like "Oh, is that the guy that screams like he's going to shit himself?" and stuff like that.

In high school the whole class were fans and some of the friends that I kept a connection with after that still enjoyed the series a couple of years afterwards. I met my best friend in high school, who was from a different class thanks to DBZ. I spotted him screaming in the school bathroom with his hair up. And I just had to say "hi". The funny thing is, he doesn't even mention DB anymore and has no interest in it whatsoever. :? Makes me wonder how things and people change and move on. And is there something wrong with me to still enjoy it? Nah. The others are not okay for leaving this beauty behind. Plus, I'm not that much of a nerd for it and don't talk obsessively about it.

Girlfriend. Nope, don't have one. But my best friend from University, who is a girl respects all of my interests, including Dragon Ball. She's even watched the first episode of the series with me once, which was very sweet of her, because clearly those 20 minutes were a torture for her. :P Clearly, some people just can't see the world Toriyama created like we, the fans do.

I was sitting at a table with these kids talking about all kinds of stuff like anime, American cartoons, and video games. Someone mentioned Dragonball when talking about anime. I believe everyone in that table likes it.

My parents are kind of indifferent to it. My sister has no interest in DBZ except for one small element: she LOVES Team Four Star's version of Mr. Popo, to the point that she can recite many of his lines from the series off the top of her head (including the "pecking order" speech).

Not really. It's not just tournaments, but I watch many other episodes as well. The fillers are pretty neat too.

My dad is more understanding becuase he's into old style Macross and Robotech and stuff.
My mom is just like "wtf are you doing", but I'm 20 turning 21, so she can't really stop me at this point. And I buy all my figures and stuff with my job I've had since I was 15 so yeah...
My friends and I all grew up with this in like grade 4-9or so, so we loveit, you can be the coolest person, or the hottest girl.. the minute you say "Dragonball Z" their like "oh s***, I love that anime, remember when Vegeta..." etc etc.
So I'd say its 50/50 to the parents, and friends 100% love it. Some of my cousins that are older than me love it too.

My parents don't really care whether I watch it, though my dad has seen a few of the Dragon Ball episodes and loved it, humour for the most part, but I'd think they'd be confused if they saw me watching the series in japanese. My brother luckily understands what the uncut version of the show is like through my sets, though he just watches the dub.

During high school though, some people I know use to take the shit out of me for liking it and would critise me for owning the series, probably judging by the TV edits. Poor sods.Maybe I should bring the Dragon Boxes in and prove them wrong.

But I was lucky during course I started this year, most don't really care and someone I became friends with who is a huge otaku, loved DBZ: Abridged when I showed him and sometimes after course, we'd say and laugh quotes from the episodes.

Oh God, Dragonball Z is summat my whole family (and not just nuclear) have always pestered me for liking,or would just plain out make fun of me for liking. Though I really have no idea what they would say about it now...I try to just buy the DVD's now and sneak to watch them in my room, or if I go into Barnes and Noble I just tell them "I just read some comics" so they won't be all "AHAHA YOU STILL LIKE THAT SHIT...?".

when I was little my mom hated it but would still buy me those trading cards and let me buy my own figures.
I always remember her driving to Burger King a thousand times too when the toys came out for it, which...to her was probably a relief compared to me trying to get her to help me 'collect all of the 1o1 Dalmatian toys' hahah.

as for friends...I think one was interested but their parents wouldn't let them get into it. And for cousins they are the ones that bugged me the most about it. I DID have one cousin (on the other side of my family) who liked it. He later ended up giving me his Goku hoodie and Bardock figure which I wish I still had cos I would give anything to find that old shit again...especially that Hoodie...I did not know how impossible to find that thing is to find info on. LOL we'd always collect the figures together and laugh at how massive their fucking legs were.

I was in the car today with my mom, just after I got home from school. We had the club fair today so I explained to her that I signed up for Anime Club. She asked me if I still watch anime. I said yeah, you remember Dragonball right? She said yes and I explained to her it was my favoritest thing in the world xD. I then said you know, some anime can be pretty stupid though. She then said "You mean like that one show you used to watch with all the people in it screaming? I then told her that's Dragonball, lol.

HAH I hate moments like that...
or like when your parents know you like one select anime, and they think you then like ALL of them.
God it's annoying going somewhere and your parent pointing to remotely anything of any anime/manga and saying "isn't this the junk you like?".
Well I think it's annoying anyways....pretty much hate anime save for the few GOOD ones there actually are. More keen on reading the mangas, but still at that there is not too many I am in to.

It is, but compared to US Kids cartoons one would think otherwise.
