Jesus, I haven't logged onto this account in FOREVER.
Anyways, it seems that even Metallica isn't safe from Yamamoto.

He's got some balls to rip off Metallica. It's a really derivative version though.

Actually, Fate sounds more like Call of Ktulu from Metallica's S&M album.SSJ3raditz wrote:Anyways, it seems that even Metallica isn't safe from Yamamoto.

It's unbelievable to think that Yamamoto even ripped off Metallica....
Metallica - The Call of Ktulu (S&M)
EDIT: While looking up Gohan's SSJ2 Transformation Theme from Burst Limit, I looked through the comments on the video and saw that one of the comments said that the song sounded like Avenged Sevenfold's I Won't See You Tonight Part 2. I'm not an Avenged Sevenfold fan, but I decided to see how close the two were. They are pretty similar sounding:
Burst Limit - Raging Evil (Gohan's SSJ2 Transformation Theme)
Avenged Sevenfold - I Won't See You Tonight Part 2

This is not a blatant one, but still sounds similar.

Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
This is kind of off-topic, but it's also completely ridiculous and I feel the need to address it.AnimeMaakuo wrote:I'm not sure what you're asking, but the guy (IMHO) didn't do anything wrong. I don't see the problem. It's more like you said earlier; It was "inspired by," if that makes sense.
"Music (tunes) doesn't belong to anyone," because in a sense.. It's true. People "owning" (or putting copyright onto) musical tunes is like saying Benjamin Franklin owns the idea (that he thought up of) when using the rod, to get a charge from lightning because he discovered how to use it for benefits. The idea that he thought up of would've been discovered with or without him, so he doesn't own jack. People after that were inspired, and built off of that idea (making it better, just like Yamamoto). So in a whole sense, I just don't see how tunes could really belong to somebody.
Lightning already existed in nature, so yes, theoretically anyone could have done what Benjamin Franklin did. But they didn't. After all, if it were so easy to harness electricity, why did it only happen in the past 200 years? People work hard to come up with ideas and create things. And inventors can and do patent their work (though Ben Franklin was actually anti-patent, IIRC). They have a right to be protective of their creations if they so choose.
Music is purely creative work for the purpose of entertainment rather than practical use, but the same principles apply. Metallica songs weren't just sitting around in a tree waiting for someone to "discover" them. Metallica used their knowledge of music to write those songs themselves. If Metallica's songs didn't require any work on their part, why did their songs only come into existence in the past 30 years? Why didn't Mozart compose Enter Sandman?
Kenji Yamamoto's job was to create new music. Instead, he took music made by other people and pretended it was his own original creation. So yes, he did something wrong. Had he outright said "I'm remixing this other guy's song," then it might be a different story. It would be like if Toriyama took the plot of Lord of the Rings, changed Frodo's name to Gokuu, and claimed it was 100% his own creation with no acknowledgment of Tolkien.
Whether or not you think modern copyright/patent laws are wrong is another story entirely (I have problems with some of it myself). At the very least, Yamamoto lied to Toei and Bandai about the nature of his work.

The point is, these people own the music and he did something very wrong.

Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
If I recorded a song, note for note, of course it wouldn't sound like the original. I would have my own sound to it. But then if I put on an album with no writing credits to the original artist, I would have lawyers on my ass. This is what Yamamoto did.
Yes, it all sounds nice, and different, and ladeedaa. But copying multitudes of songs and simply making them sound slightly different is still illegal, and that's why there's no more Yamamoto in Kai.

...........No one is talking about Z. We're talking about Yamamoto who composed for Kai. Not Kikuchi who did Z.

Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
I'm sorry you feel that way. I honestly don't see the problem here, especially with the Future Trunk's introduction song (which is my favorite). If I created a song, and someone took pieces of the tune, and mixed it with his, tuning it and composing it himself to make something that I myself would find better, I'd have no problem. Besides, I honestly don't think the 80's band cares, not that it matters or anything. Sometimes copyright is fine for recognizing a great piece, but when someone makes something similar in style, but more legendary-ish, I find no problem.
