Dragon Ball figures and DVD's at Anime Conventions
Hi guys, I've got loads of questions for those who have been to a convention. If anyone can answer some of them it's appreciated.
1. Do they sell figures that are out of stock on websites such as angolz and HLJ?
2. Are figures at conventions expensive?
3. Is there always Dragon Ball stuff at every convention?
4. Do they give out information about DVDs etc?
5. Do you have to pay to go into conventions?
6. Do you have to dress up (cosplay) to get in?
7. Are there any good conventions in the UK coming up?
8. What are conventions like?

I'll answer some of these.oXdanXo wrote:Hi guys, I've got loads of questions for those who have been to a convention. If anyone can answer some of them it's appreciated.
Figurine prices can vary to being cheap to very expensive, you kind of have to go by instinct or look up the average price of a particular figurine you are looking for. That would probably give you a better idea of price range to go for. Also, you have to watch out for bootlegs, some sellers don't realise that they are selling bootlegs products.oXdanXo wrote:2. From my own personal experience of going to conventions, there is always some sort of Dragon Ball merchandise being sold, mostly DVDs.oXdanXo wrote:3. Is there always Dragon Ball stuff at every convention?
Most conventions you have to pay to get in.oXdanXo wrote:5. Do you have to pay to go into conventions?
No you do not have to cosplay to get in, that's all just for fun.oXdanXo wrote:6. Do you have to dress up (cosplay) to get in?
One of the main conventions in the UK would be the London MCM Expo, which happens twice a year, one in May and the other in October. Most of the main anime franchises are announced at that convention which have been licensed for the UK and you can get some nice Dragon Ball merchandise there e.g. figurines.oXdanXo wrote:7. Conventions are fun, they are really a social event, so it's nice hanging around with friends at events like conventions. It's a good experience.oXdanXo wrote:8. What are conventions like?
Hope that somewhat helps.

How much does it usually cost? I'm pretty interested in knowing this myself.mysteriousdbzgt wrote:Most conventions you have to pay to get in.oXdanXo wrote:5. Do you have to pay to go into conventions?

They often vary, I can't really give a price. Some conventions you have to pay, whilst others are free.funrush wrote:How much does it usually cost? They may. It all depends on the vendors. Some sell old, even used figures, while others have the new stuff straight from Japan.oXdanXo wrote:1. Do they sell figures that are out of stock on websites such as angolz and HLJ?
As for the price of the conventions, in my experience, the better conventions have gone for over $40 (for a 3 day weekend). Typically, pre-registering will give you some sort of discount, and really helps avoiding large lines. The convention has since fixed the problem, but once I waited over 2 hours in line for a PRE-REGISTER...my friends who didn't had to wait around 10...(registration now takes around a minute).

It depends on the convention, the bigger the convention, the better your chances are at finding DBZ merchandise in the dealers room. I went to Anime Iowa last weekend, about 3,000 people, pre registered, for the weekend, cost me $28. I picked up 4 DBZ Super Nintendo games, the Bardock and Goku LoS figures, Dragon Box 5-6, and several other DBZ items. Denver is next, Sept 9-11 which is expected to draw over 20,000 people
