Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
I have a question, Kaboom. When Pilaf and co. are climbing up to the Lookout, Pilaf mentions that the Dragon Balls aren't showing up on the radar. Is this some sort of Chekhov's Gun device the foreshadows the final arc of GT?
Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
So, uh... pretty much just waiting for Kino. I've got everything else for the chapter finished.

I think I can say without really spoiling anything that no, it's just Super Saiyan 1. His hair in the picture is just getting blown back by the "wind" from his attack. Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
From the larger preview image last page, the hair kind of looked a bit like SS2 since there were 3 spiked bangs and you can't see most of the top, but it also had that slightly odd look that the hair gets when being forced backward. So I just couldn't tell if it was SS+wind or SS2+wind. lolKaboom wrote:I think I can say without really spoiling anything that no, it's just Super Saiyan 1. Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
Another question I've been meaning to ask is, if Goku needs to be able to sense someone familiar in order to teleport other objects to that location, how did he send those missiles to 17's field? 17 doesn't have ki (per se), and Goku isn't exactly familiar with him.
Not meaning to poke holes in your plot or anything, but I can see this as foreshadowing *spoiler removed*

Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
There's either two possible explanations I've had for that in the past:CaBrPi wrote:Another question I've been meaning to ask is, if Goku needs to be able to sense someone familiar in order to teleport other objects to that location, how did he send those missiles to 17's field? 17 doesn't have ki (per se), and Goku isn't exactly familiar with him.
1) 17 has a "normal human" or less amount of natural ki which Goku has learned how to identify and locate.
2) 17 actually lives on the outskirts of a small village which Goku has learned how to identify and locate.
But the answer to this little plot-hole nowadays? Well ... You remember those "adjustments" which may be coming to the early chapters that I mentioned on the last page?

Patience, patience. It took me over 5 months to write, so I'm sure we can all wait a few mere weeks for her to proofread it... I caught up with her earlier and she said she'd try her best to finish the proofing tonight. Which means I'll hopefully be able to get it published sometime tomorrow.

Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
It's always worth the wait my man.
However I have glanced at my " Official Emergency Angry Fan Mob" kit from ACME a lot over the past few weeks and I think the pitchfork is a little rusty. My torch, tar and feathers situation is good though.
In all seriousness, take your sweet time.

Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
So, here's the scoop: Chapter 13 will be published on Wednesday, one way or another.
I don't want to sound mean or impatient with Kino, since I know she's busy with school and all, but it's been a month since I gave her the chapter, and almost another week since I last heard from her. I've personally already made you guys wait long enough, and I really want to get cracking on Chapter 14 so I can hopefully have it appropriately out by Halloween.
So I'm going ahead, making one or two tweaks to the chapter which I was waiting to do until I got it back, and then I'm going to get it published on Wednesday like I said. That'll give me just enough time to make the tweaks, give it another quick proofread myself, and finish up this little extra art thing I came up with and started.
In the meantime, here's an on-a-whim doodle of Kagyu, from Cataclysm. You guys like Kagyu, right?
Well, "liked," rather.
Because he died.
... Rather gruesomely.

Sorry, dude. Don't give me that look.

Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
Hmm, I remember you posted a rough draft concept of Kagyu before but this is a little cleaner looking. I remember thinking while reading his scenes in chapter 3, "Oh nice! A cloaked Namekian tracker type character. This oughta be g . . . oh dang he's dead".
I'll say it again, Cataclysm was one great read. Made Slug an even more interesting character by tying him to Namek's past and was able to blend into the canon quite well.

Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
MAN I DONT' EVEN REMEMBER IT WAS LIKE A KAJILLION YEARS AGO AN- Oh wait, I still have notes laying around.CaBrPi wrote:What is the origin of Kagyu's name?
... Okay, my notes don't include his name for some reason. Looks like we've got another mystery on our hands, gang! To the internet!
Okay, this translator site I use all the time says that "kagyuu" (かぎゅう) is another word for "snail." Let's see, when I plop that kanji into Google Translate, it says it means... "cochlea." Which most commonly refers to the part of the inner ear that looks like a snail's shell, but is apparently also used as part of the scientific name for one or more snail species.
Or something like that.
Weird.
Isn't this more fun than reading a new chapter? :D

Haha.
I was kinda surprised you didn't use the name Mushi in Cataclysm, though I suppose it doesn't really fit anyone in particular.
Also, you wouldn't mind me... err, "borrowing" the name Kuji for a fic, would you? I realize it comes from the same word as "Namek", but I don't want to step on any toes here.

Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
Cool. It's just I've asked that in the past, and people don't always like me using the same names for my characters that they use, even if the name is based on an actual word.
Re: DragonBall GT: Revised
Ladies and gentlemen, it's the moment you've all been waiting for! Let's get down to business!
At long last, the thrilling conclusion to the Imegga arc, otherwise known as, "an entire chapter centered around Goku and Redgic fighting each other!" It's a whopper of a chapter totaling at 30 PAGES! As is the norm, we've got the downloadable .PDF version, because this time around, you might never even finish reading it unless you can take it out and about with you!
And as is natural, we've got some bonus material! Why don't we get the painful stuff out of the way first... with some power levels! Bwahahaha! (Get used to seeing these at the conclusion of each sub-arc!)
Alright, that's over. Everyone okay? No serious physical or psychological injuries? Good. Let's continue with the stuff people actually care about. Next up is a character bio!

REDGIC
(Please disregard the crappy-looking artwork I posted a few pages back; THIS should be considered Redgic's "official" appearance!)
Alignment:
Chaotic Neutral
Age:
60
Race:
Dibbetan
Battle Power:
~60,000,000
Home:
Planet Freeza No. 219, formerly Planet Dibbet.
Occupation:
Mercenary.
Goals:
To find a purpose for his power.
Bio:
A native of the peaceful and beautiful Planet Dibbet, Redgic was recognized as something special from day one (Age 721). He was born as a mutant with a natural proficiency for using Ki, on a level that was plain unheard of for anyone else of his near-universally weak race, and as a child this made him the darling of his family, friends, and community.
Until one day (Age 733), when everything changed. A certain group of Saiyans, on a routine mission under direction from the planet-dealing tyrant Freeza, arrived on Dibbet and swiftly eradicated the entire race. While Redgic's extraordinary power was not enough to overcome these genocidal intruders, it allowed him to survive their onslaught and even impress them. Rather than being finished off, he was subdued by the Saiyans and handed over to Freeza as a gift, which led to him being drafted into Freeza's army.
With no other choice but to go along with it, Redgic continued to quickly improve his power over the years, hoping to one day have his revenge against the Saiyans. After the destruction of Planet Vegeta and the practical extermination of the Saiyan race, however, Redgic found himself without a true purpose. He continued to work to gain strength for its own sake, and became a somewhat notable and high-rank soldier among Freeza's troops, even refusing an offer to join the Ginyu Force (Age 754). Yet through this all, Redgic made sure to, thanks to his natural talent with Ki, keep the true and full extent of his power concealed to prevent himself from becoming a target.
Eventually, he was made privy to the existence of King Cold, and re-drafted into his direct and personal service (Age 757), the more low-key status of which suited Redgic's private and quiet nature well. It was during this stage of his life when Redgic's "career" would make another drastic shift. Freeza was handily defeated by a Super Saiyan (Age 763), leading Redgic to realize that the tyrant's life and family business was coming to an end.
Soon after, Redgic slipped away and quietly defected under the pretext of going on a mission, rather than accompany Cold and Freeza on their suicidal mission to re-engage the Super Saiyan as he was supposed to. Cold and Freeza never returned alive, their planet trade empire crumbled, and Redgic escaped freely into obscurity.
For several decades after, Redgic wandered the four galaxies doing mercenary work. While his power continued to grow at its abnormally high rate, Redgic found himself becoming more and more numbed and devoid of any purpose. Eventually, he was approached by representatives of some greedy loser named Don Kia, seeking to hire him as steady personal bodyguard out on some backwater North Galaxy planet named Imegga. Redgic decided to resign himself to it, finding the prospect of living out some years in a quiet and relatively uneventful setting appealing (Age 787).
Redgic did his job well, having to do little more than exterminate the ocassional overly bold would-be assassin of Don Kia, and upheld this status quo for several years. Until one day while off training on the small and hot planet adjecent to Imegga that he used for training, Redgic sensed something, or someone, particularly noteworthy...
_____
How do you like that? Nope, we're not done yet! We've got something special here, a new thing that I'm introducing. Folks, have your very first "Planet Profile!"

PLANET IMEGGA
Attributes:
Imegga is a dry, rough world, covered in little else but deserts, canyons and valleys. Roughly 90% of the planet's water is underground, with the small amount on the surface present not as anything that could be called oceans, but a few scattered large lakes connected by a meager network of rivers. Imegga has two very large moons, each about a third the size of the planet itself. The moons both have a composition and color similar to Mars, and at night their reflected moonlight casts a deep red-orange glow over the planet's landscape.
Despite its apparent worthlessness at first glance, Imegga in fact holds a very valuable secret. The planet's crust is rich in Enlium, a rare metal which, through a combination of both its near-perfect levels of malleability and conductivity, is highly sought-after for use in electronics all over the mortal universe.
Inhabitants:
Native Imeggans are a hardy and resilient mostly-humanoid race, and manage to thrive despite the barren conditions of their home planet. They have short, efficient bodies which can survive on much less than other races in terms of nutrition, and they are very adept at handling the planet's hot days and cold nights. Their englarged craniums help them survive by storing fat and moisture much in the same way as a camel's hump.
Due to certain unfortunate circumstances some years ago, the population is very thin nowadays, and living standards are quite low. However, even before this, Imeggan life tended to be quite spartan and simple, with half the population being nomadic, while the other half tended to congregate in sizable villages built along cliffs and mountainsides. Imeggans were an industrial race, but swiftly learned about things like spaceships the hard way.
History:
For as far back as its surviving personal and written history had recorded, Imegga was a content, peaceful little world, off in the generally un-noteworthy outer regions of the North Galaxy. However, things took a turn for the worse when Freeza's ever-expanding planet trade empire took notice of Imegga and noticed just how much Enlium it held, turning the planet into a target.
Halfway through the careful and steady extermination of the Imeggan race, however, Freeza was overthrown, his empire crumbled, and Imegga was one of many planets abandoned in mid-conquest. For the time being, it seemed Imegga was safe.
But the dry little world wasn't nearly so lucky. After about twenty years of steady rebuilding, Imegga came under attack again, this time by the greedy interplanetary industrial tycoon named Don Kia. After learning of Imegga's precious natural resource, he moved in with a small army of hired goons and took over. Rather than exterminating the Imeggans, he chose to use them as a workforce, with emphasis on the "force." The Imeggans were made to mine and refine the Enlium, which Don Kia would then sell in order to expand his fortune.
Despite repeated attempts by both the natives and unwilling "visitors" of Imegga alike to overthrow him, Don Kia remained firmly in control, even hiring a mysterious but powerful Imeggan named Redgic to be his personal bodyguard. This routine of quarantine and explotation continued for several years thereafter, and the Imeggan people began to adopt an attitude of dreary acceptance of their situation. That is, until one day, when a particular little ship bearing the logo of Capsule Corporation made a rough landing...
_____
Oy vey, that was a handful to come up with. The plan is to have one of those for each major planet that Goku and his posse visit during their hunt for the Black Star Dragon Balls, and naturally there won't be many after that. We're just about done here. Only one thing left... a piece of artwork! As this behemoth of an update draws to a close, what better way to send it out with a bang than with artwork of the chapter's climax?
This may sound silly, but I hope to have Chapter 14 cranked out by the end of the month. Yes, THIS month. October. Of 2011. Don't check outside for flying pigs just yet, though.

Amazing as always
I´m not that good at reviews :S I reallly like the tiny little things you do, lie Goku mentioning that all people at Kaio´s place have weird puns for names
But damn is it bad that I really felt sorry for Don Kia at the end?
