Then what the hell was the point of that recall?

I'm gald that Funimation's Kai Season 1 release (and apparent re-release?) contain Kenji Yamamoto's music. That is Kai's original music, the Kikuchi replacement is not good. I find it distasteful that people compained to Funi about keeping Yamamoto's music so I'm going to email Funi to compliment them on retaining Yamamoto's music and I encourage others to do the same. Make them realise (if they don't already) that Yamamoto's original music is preferred to the Kikuchi replacement.

Oh boy Toei is going to be pretty pissed when they catch word that Funimation has put the Yamamoto scored seasons back on the market.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

I'm very confused. What the hell are they doing? Did he get a copy produced before the recall by accident or something?

Last I checked, Funi hasn't emailed me back. What the hell was the point in recalling it then?

Got an answer from Right Stuf when I asked about the music:
Hello Brad,

I do apologize that it took so long for us to get back to you. I spoke with our production department about the music in the Dragon Ball Z Kai DVD Season 1. This is what they advised:

"The first runs of sets 1-4 have the original, plaigarized music (Kenji Yamamoto), sets 5-6 have the new music (Kikuchi), and all printings going forward plus the new season 1 collection will have the new music. Can't tell what run we've got for DBZ Kai 1-4 offhand since Funimation is always mixing up their stock, but we very likely might have some first print stuff still around. No way to tell which is which without listening, though."

I hope this answers your question. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Thanks for choosing Right Stuf.

Ok. I should start getting the gear to isolate the music channel *poker face*. And I should get the Yamamoto sets before they get expensive as a collector's item :3

In all honesty i'm also glad Kai Season 1 contains the Yamamoto score so your not alone.
RazorX wrote:That is Kai's original music, the Kikuchi replacement is not good.
I agree with you completly the only reason the Kikuchi score is so bad with Kai is because it's too damn repetive (only 4/5 songs and all of them are used in every episode without any variety WTF Toei).
RazorX wrote:I find it distasteful that people compained to Funi about keeping Yamamoto's music so I'm going to email Funi to compliment them on retaining Yamamoto's music and I encourage others to do the same.
Well when people were told that the score was going to be Kikuchi on season 1 I can kinda understand why people complained about it being Yamamoto because being told your getting one thing and then getting something different than what was advertised makes Funi look like a bunch of liars to people who were expecting Kikuchi, I honestly don’t care and commend Funimation for keeping the Yamamoto score but some people don’t feel the same way.
RazorX wrote:Make them realise (if they don't already) that Yamamoto's original music is preferred to the Kikuchi replacement.
I’m pretty sure Funimation has already figured out that the Yamamoto music is preferred over Kikuchi, unfortunately whether or not they can use the Yamamoto score in Kai or not is up to Toei so if you want to convince anyone convince them but good luck with that.

Maybe it was old stock? Has anyone from this forum picked it up after the recall?

Gah! I'm gonna get to the bottom of this...

Lol that person there is me, and I definitely got it from the re-stock. I doubt they would of had any old stock left, the demand was so high its very likely that they had already sold out of their 'old stock'.

From what I see on Amazon it looks as though they have removed Season One again. The stock holder has changed to some other seller. My brother ordered Season One after the first Re-Stock only to find it had Yamamoto. He had a Live Chat with someone who worked at Amazon, got a re-fund on the set and was told they were going to look into the issue with Funimation.
Also Parts 1 - 4 are now out of stock. Looks like Funimation are getting rid of Yamamoto's score. It would be nice if they released Parts 1 - 4 with the replaced score for those who wish to have a consistent score for their parts rather than getting this new Season Sets.

I am amazed that the Yamamoto incident is still dragging on such relentlessly. He really damaged the franchise, didn't he? I wonder how much damage he caused. I feel sorry for kids who liked the original score and have no idea why the music is messed up like hell and the stock ran out. Maybe they don't care at all, but I was one of little kids who cared the score in anime very much, so I would've been aware of this if a same problem had happened in my childhood.

I really hope, that Funimation won`t get into any trouble for this, when Nintendo found, that Giana Sisters, for C64 and Amiga, "borrowed" plenty elements from Super Mario Bros. 1, Time Warp immediately took game from stores, and case ended.

I think it's just on FUNimation's part. When they sent out the press release, Toei made the change relatively quick. The next TV broadcast episode was immediately replaced, the up-and-coming DVD/BD's were replaced in time for a release, and the one's before those were replaced with the Kikuchi score at break-neck speed as well. Like they were REALLY trying to make it look like the Yamamoto score never existed.

I myself am still a little confused on which score I like best. I mean I LOVE Kikuchi's DragonBall and DragonBall Z musical scores, but where they're placed in Kai it just sounds so out of place, and they only seem to use a majority of the tracks from the Cell saga of Z. I know that Chris Sabat was upset about the replacement, because he directed the voice acting to Yamamoto's music, and was worried with different music it wouldn't sound right.

Though while watching the "Super Saiyan Saga" mega-marathon Nicktoons had, some of the scenes do look better with the Kikuchi score as opposed to Yamamoto. I just want a complete set. So hopefully they re-release the parts with the replacements as well as the bargain sets.

Me too, I like yamamoto, but while kai score was great. I think The old yamamoto had a much better style and originality (if he had one back then xD). I mean the orchestrations of the old dbz games were just amazing, and if he copied, atleast it wasn't so obvious.

Like Buu's theme from GT Final bout (not orchestrated but it's wel well sequenced)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dr_8jWjU ... re=related

Searching for the dragon balls, from the gokuden rpg games. it's orchestrated.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib3l9UJa ... FFCAD1AB83

Man that last one..... geez it just sends chills, brings forth so much nostalgia :S Hope Takaki composes some great orchestrated music for coming db games.

^ The music he composed (or so did he...) for Dragon Ball Z 1 and Burst Limit was brilliant, those tracks of the games could easily been fit to play scenes on Kai.

I feel cheated because they never included Shunsuke Kikuchi's DBZ original soundtrack on the international DBZ games, they always keep it Japan-only, an exclusive.

Sparking Neo! for PS2 in used condition is found at low prices, so I'm considering it, just because of Kikuchi's music.

I'm really tired of hearing music that doesn't resembles the DBZ series, BT3's music wasn't completely bad, but after a while I turned it off, and so I'd just listen to the Japanese VA's. Now I don't even play it any more.

BT3's "Edge of Spirit" was probably the best song in the whole game, imo.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
