Here's some more:

Manga Bulma with blue-hair Chi-Chi:
Image

White Kaio:
Image
I gave him a very subtle blue-tint, just so he wouldn't look the same color as the trim of his sleeves.

Korean cover Vegeta 1 (aka Green Bay Packers Vegeta):
Image
I made the tint of green on his pants and undershirt more blue to separate them and keep it from looking too uniform. I also had to edit out the wrinkles of his shirt so I could turn his sleeves into skin.

And finally:

Korean Cover Piccolo (aka Biological experiment insectoid Piccolo):
Image
(Click for full-size)
I flipped the image horizontally, because after doing so it closely resembles the pose on the posted cover(in fact, this is what that image reminded me of).

I'll do more soon.

I really like blue haired Chichi!

I think I am going to use some of these colours for my animation. Some look really good, better than the official ones.

Dragonball Goku
blue haired Chichi
Toei Vegeta are my favourites!
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

It's surprising that Green Bay Packers Vegeta doesn't look bad. But that Piccolo...

Some of these would of made great alternate outfits for the games.

Anyone have a reference image for this? What outfit was she wearing, and what other colors, if any, were different?

Also, I found this while searching:
Image

Apparently it's from a Weekly Jump from 1989. If you look, you'll see all sorts of weird colors, including incorrect Vegeta! Does anyone know if this was made after Vegeta's incorrectly colored appearance in the anime, or if these colors were the basis for them?

We know that scan appeared in the same issue as the one, which contained Chapter 231: A Fight in the Red Zone!

Chapter 231 was released on July 17th 1989.

The first episode to feature incorrectly colored Vegeta was first aired on May 24th 1989 way before Chapter 231.

Metalwario64, what program do you use to edit the colors on those images? Just curious.

Photoshop. A really old version: Elements 4.0 from 2005.

I'd imagine Gimp must be at least somewhat better than what I use by this point, I just haven't gotten around to checking it out.

And what kind of tool do you also?

I'm asking because I have Photoshop Elements 10, but yet when I use the "Color Replacement Tool", sometimes I can't get it to replace a color correctly. For example if I try to replace green with white, it comes out gray instead. Anyway you could help me with this?

I use the selection tool for whatever areas I want to recolor, then I fill them in with the fill tool on a separate layer, then lastly I erase the rough edges and manually fill in with the brush tool any segments that didn't quite make it to the edges.

Then, depending on the color of the original area and what color you want to make it, you either turn the layer into a Multiply layer, which is good for light skin colors and whites when you want to colorize them, Overlay and Screen, which are good for brightening dark areas, or Color, which is good for changing the hue of one color to another.

It's really something you'll need to experiment around with to get a feel for what's best for what situation. Sometimes I'll use a combination of Overlay, Screen, and Color layers, so just give it a shot.

Also, here's another recolor: Blond Bulma from the above posted image, and with manga Goku and Kulilin:

Blond Bluma does not look too bad to be honest in my opinion.

Here's another Bulma variant.

I also just realized that grey Piccolo reminds me of Killer Croc.

Ehh, Raditz in purple Armour doesn't work for me. Works better for Turles.

One request I do want to see is Raditz in Nappa colored armor though.

You can use the Raditz in this thread for the main picture. http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... =7&t=13526

If you need any other ideas, I've always found the alternate colors they used for the Great Saiyaman costume in the Carddass interesting. They resemble his father's gi more closely:

The colors they used for his school clothes are also similar:

Nice idea! Here it is:

(Click for full size)

This one was a bit annoying, as the armor's color wasn't far off from the hair, so I had to keep manually drawing in the color for the armor around the edges that connected to the hair.

I'm pretty happy with it though.

Those are pretty neat. I'll try those later too, thanks! :D

Thanks for those. I'm definitely going to have no shortage of recolors to do.

Here's a couple more:

Alternate Purple Armor Radditz:
Image

Basically the same as the last one, just entirely purple this time as opposed to just purple shoulder pads, so that it's closer to the scan I posted.

Tullece Colored Armor Raditz:
Image

Not really an "official" alternate recolor, but the mentioning of the character and the recolor of Raditz with Nappa's armor gave me the idea to give Raditz Tullece's colors, and I think it looks pretty neat. Maybe it would make a great alternate palette in a game?

Also, I just noticed an animation error in the original: his hands are supposed to have "gloves". They're present, but they're colored like skin. Therefore I corrected that.

Lastly, for the reverse, here's Tullece with Raditz colored armor:

Yeah, the Turles colored and Nappa style armour look great on Raditz.

The Turles in Raditz armor isn't half bad either.

The Red Yakkon and the Aqua King Cold would be interesting to see.
