I think it's possibly true (!), since it's not centered only on Dragon Ball Online, but in another game too. But well, only time will tell.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

How many years has it been? I don't think DB online will ever be released in Europe or USA.

I remember some years ago that they stated that they plan to release it in Europe in the future, but there has never been any mention for USA version.

I'm not exactly disagreeing with you, but time isn't really a valid excuse for not releasing it here...yet. The game is currently only out in 3-4 locations, none of which are Dragon Ball's homeland of Japan, and the Japanese team has been working alongside the the Korean developer since the beginning...
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.

We have the Korean, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China versions.
Since Japan is involved in the game, it will most likely be released there too.
And a release in Europe is planned too.

There is one saying in Czech: ''It takes them so much time, like s**t to the fasting(/hungry) guy''........
I'm on the same boat as soulnova, it just bores me do repetitive stuff without story and not waste all of the game's potential because of language barrier, so I stopped. At the same time, having english version will be great, but as it looks like, the graphic is already old as hell and waiting for example 4 years for a game, that I already waited about 4 years since it's annoucement to actually play it in Korean/Chinese........... Do I have to be vulgar?

PS: I will, Shueisha and Spike is serving us this s**t all over after the series ended and the best of what we can get as video game was already done on PS2, this thing is probably one of the most original things we ever saw in the series and it is ommited for no reason.......
I can understand the developer's hell with The Old Republic, but I don't with this game...... Localization can be done in max. one year and then you need web page for it and some two or five servers. DBO isn't that huge MMO hit like others more commercial titles, so this few servers is OK.

I guess DBO didn't go global yet, because they want to test the game in the Asian countries, so that when we get more updates to add more cool stuff, the game will have much bigger impact. Imagine if the game was out in English without stuff such as flying, with TMQ only up until Saiyan arc and with more bugs. Then imagine the game being released in English with flying, the upcoming Kinto'un, and much more to be seen, with TMQ beyond Freeza arc, and even less bugs. Which of the two will have bigger impact? It's all about business.

Well, from what I understood, Dragon Ball Online pales in comparison to any other MMORPG, in terms of everything, including and most importantly, playability. So, with that in mind, it's not surprising that the localization is going at snails pace. To be honest, we at Kanzenshuu aren't the majority and I doubt the game is going to sell that much to actually justify it's costs.

The money will be from the cash shop, since the game is free, at least on the currently available places. Even though I haven't played any other MMO game (except 5 years ago when I was playing Lineage II, where I was a total noob), I'm sure it doesn't beat games like WoW. Even if it's better, it won't surpass WoW. As for it's popularity, I'm sure lots of people will try it out, even if it's because they are still fans or for nostalgia. But I don't know for how long it will stay popular. There is however a big portion of foreigner (for the available places) players playing DBO, most of them playing the Taiwan version.

I find it interesting how that the countries that DO have it seem to be ones that you hear about blocking internet or certain things in their regions yet countries with free run of what you can do and view don't have it.

Also, I honestly feel that the plot is a whole potential flushed down the drain. They went all the way to the future just so you can travel back to the past and re-do the same story you've been reading, watching and playing over and over and over again. Like you said, people might pick it up due to nostalgia and try it out, but to play the same crap as ever? I don't see many people staying for that.

The time travels in the game are only 1% of the game actually. And it's not exactly the same story, while the known events happen in the background, we battle other enemies that try to alter the events.

1%? As I understood it, the meat of the story line is the Time Quests, everything else is just stuff to pass time and level up. And all you battle are old characters or random unnamed new ones, you rarely battle the new characters since there are just two. Even though slightly different events happen, you're still reliving the same thing, same time frame, same events and battles. In fact, your whole mission is to ensure that what happened before will still happen. Like Time Squad: enforcing the past to protect the future; except less fun.

Like I said, 1% of the game, not the story. I wouldn't say we play the same story, but on the same story.

The moment they release English servers, Latin America will keep them afloat. You can take my word on that.

They pretty much had to do it and I think it was handled nicely. Goku and company have to be involved in this major way for them to sell this as a Dragon Ball game to the fan base while you are still a character exploring the Dragon World fighting against a new threat.

Time Machine Quests are definitely a large chunk the story but there is still more story the game has but I'm just not sure what it is because I can't understand it. :P
Something about this evil organization growing its army in the main timeline, Red Pants Army, etc. I think in the current patch the story is the rise of this Demonic Namekian clan raising a tower similar to that of Karin's.

As far as I know there are like 5 groups of enemies. The Paella Gang (descendants of Pilaf Gang), the Red Pants Army (beastmen trying to regain control of the world), the Evil Namekians, the remnants of Frieza Army and the Time Breakers who are messing with the Timelines with Miira and Towa.
