Taking care of gashapon and other figures?
The figure on the left was purchased about a year before the one on the right. They're from two separate sets, which is why the coloring is different.
My question relates to the frost stand that holds him up. The one on the left has yellowed when compared to the newer purchase on the right. Why is this? I'm worried that I'm exposing my figures to conditions that may cause the colors themselves to degenerate over time.
I'm an amateur collector who doesn't know much at all about this sort of thing. What should I know about the material that DragonBall gashapon and other figures are made of and how best to take care of them? Any help or advice is appreciated.

I heard that overexposure to sunlight can cause the coloring to fade. Have you been keeping them near a window?

Not near a window, but at certain times of day I suppose the sunlight does reach them from across the room. If that's why the frost stand is so yellow, then I'm shocked by my own thoughtlessness.

It's more that likely this is caused by sunlight.
Some figures do fade eventually over years, but harsh lights will cause this to happen much quicker.
If you just keep your figures away from the sunlight as much as you can, they should be fine.
EDIT: Smoking can also discolour some figures.

That discoloration is most likely the result of exposure to sunlight. Eventually things like that will almost always happen even when one takes reasonable precautions. I don't know if there's much that can be done to avoid it other than keeping the figures as far from direct sunlight as possible.

It's taken too much sunlight.
Ultraviolet light is very bad for those figures.

I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.
