Welcome.
This is the topic for discussion of my podcast Shen Long's Dragon Balls. It's a live transmission over Mixlr with my co-host Zykar.
The show airs every friday at 23:00 GMT+0/345º00' NET for about an hour.

You can leave the tab open a bit before time and it will start buffering when we are on air, that way you won't miss it.

There is a chat feature which you can join if you have a Mixrl or Facebook account. I highly encourage it as we will acknowledge you as we read the comments. Bear in mind that there is some lag between us talking and it actually buffering into Mixrl.

At the moment the episodes will follow a pattern:

  Dramatic Fanfic Reading
  Anime Dissection of Lameness
  Random Surprise Review

This may change depending on feedback, although my least favourite feature seems to be the one with the best feedback...
We might also include some smaller features to fill up the time slot.

At the moment we have had the following episodes:

• A ~15 minute test run.
  A pilot episode in which we interviewed each other in order to show how it will work for future interviews.
  A dramatic reading of three terrible fanfics.
  An overview of the first Dragon Ball Arc.
  A review of the first part of Dragon Ball SD

There will be a disclaimer at the beginning of the show. This disclaimer will cover any mistake or any information we missed on the past episode. Obviously there will be no disclaimer if there is nothing to be said.

Feedback is highly encouraged as we want to make our show the best possible for your entertainment. We will mention you personally if relevant, some of you might qualify for future interviews.
Besides plugging whatever projects you have and whatnot, there are a set number of questions we will ask every guest. We call them:

The Big Seven

• - "Tell us a bit about yourself now and about your first contact with Dragon Ball." (examples: age, where you were born/live, job or course of study, hobbies, how old were you when you were first watching Dragon Ball, etc.)
  - "What are your favourite things and your least favourite things in the franchise and why." (examples: game, movie, episode, arc, character, anything.)
  - "Name one thing you would change on the franchise."
  - "What is the next big thing you hope for the franchise?"
  - "What other series, franchises or authors you enjoy besides Toriyama’s work?"
  - "If you could ask anything to Shen Long, what would your wish be?"
  - "Tell us one extremely nerdy piece of trivia that comes to your mind."

The questions are subject to be changed or adapted depending on feedback. Guests are entitled to refuse to answer any question.

So as you can see, the next episode will air at 23:00 GMT Friday, 22nd of March, 2013 and it will be a random surprise review.
The one after that will air at 23:00 GMT Friday, 29th of March, 2013 and it will reset the cycle and be an interview.

The random reviews will include movies, specials, games, amongst other things.

Hey guys, Zykar and I have been working on this for about a month now, we recorded a demo but didn't actually liked it but I'll try and get it rolling soon.

There were talks about a Skype talk show but that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. This will use a different platform and will be more like a radio talk show.

We hope to discuss the series arc by arc and throw in movies every once in a while. We also hope to have guest hosts too (I've got one lined up already). Maybe if this rolls out and gets enough popularity we'll be able to have more influential guests like VegettoEX himself or Nostal, one can hope...

Anyway, just letting you all know that I've been working on this in the shadows and that's mainly why the other reviews have been dead.

Anyway, it's going live either today or tomorrow, we are trying to push it for 11PM for us, which would fall into 6PM in Philadelphia.
Again, it's going to be a LIVE show, but I think we can record it too. The platform we are going to use allows you to interact with us via a chat window. I know I said guest hosts but I meant just guests, we hope to interview people. It's going to be on air every two weeks and we hope to have around 45 minutes of show.

For this weeks show we are going to interview each other, sorta... That way you'll know the style of interview we are going to have and you'll know a bit more about us, your hosts. To fill the rest of the time we are going to have a dramatic reading of a fanfic, and possibly more stuff because I'm not sure if that will fill the time slot xD

The next show is most probably going to be an arc review.

Edit: The show went live and we were on air for a whole hour. I hope at least some of you catched it since we had just a handful of guests.

Listened the whole thing (I was João Pinto). It was pretty interesting, liked that Zykar was doing all sorts of references and voices to some fan-stuff, also, living in the Pokémon world really has more advantages than living in the DB world, but I digress. I was disappointed by the lack of crowd tho, felt awkward being the only one comentating and stuff, but overall it was really nice and I can't wait for next episode.

Thanks a lot for the feedback buddy! It was much appreciated! It was only the pilot but I think it went well. I hope that in the following episodes more listeners will join and comment.

Yeah Zykar is... Very emotional xD We were both doing a lot of silly voices and references before the actual show in a test run.

I think we will focus on the dramatic reading for the next episode. The one after that will most probably be a discussion on the first arc of the Dragon Ball anime.

So me and DNA noticed a little late that he made a little mistake on the last post. We are supposed to start the show every Saturday instead of Friday. We have agreed, however, to air today if we can, so keep your eyes open as I (or DNA) will post here later today news of when the show will be aired and a little preview of what we will be talking about.

ChahikoDBZ did a beautiful job. Honestly, I couldn't have drawn it better myself.

I listen to a ton, and I mean a ton, of podcasts during the week. I work at home on my computer so I pretty much have nothing better to do. But that said I'm not podcasting expert but I'll try my best to give my honest opinion. The dramatic fanfic reading was great, I honestly cracked up a few times especially during the Dragon Ball/Looney Tunes crossover (holy crap that was terrible). But I think just one reading would've sufficed. Maybe if you had another segment planned like reading viewer email (I'm just using this as an example since I know it's only been your second show) or perhaps you guys could've given your thoughts or opinions on recent DB related news. At least the big ones.

You guys seemed very comfortable and relaxed with one another, which is very cool. There have been some podcasts I've listened to where the people seemed awkward, stiff, or just given off this weird vibe. Didn't feel that here.

Anyway besides all that, I thought it was a good show!

I'm looking forward to next week's Podcast. I really had fun. The dramatic reading of the first fanfic made me laugh so hard. I had that tab open all day just so I didn't miss this one. As for suggestions, umm. MUST keep that dramatic reading of fanfics thing for sure. Oh. I got one! I would like to see DNA's voice impression of Jeice. If I think of any other suggestions I'll be sure to post them here!

Thanks a lot guys :) But I must say both me and Zykar regret the whole Englishman in New York thing. It sounded better in theory. He might still appear but simply as a voice that Zykar does and not a fake personality.

I was hoping one fanfic would do the trick but when I saw the clock was only at thirty minutes past I had to do something else. Luckily I had the Freeza fanfic prepared already, and it still wasn't enough. With time things will eventually change.

I guess my main question here is: Did you like the fanfic reading feature? Do you think it's enough to cover a whole show or does it turn tiresome after a while? We have been considering dedicating a whole monthly episode to just this but we could go with half an episode if we manage to pair it with something else.

Fan e-mails could be a good idea if we had any xD
I did think of covering news but that is always done by Kanzenshuu. I guess we could give our opinion but I didn't want to spoil the new movie to anyone who hasn't been accompanying the news of it.

As for voices, I barely know what the English voices sound like :P I never watched the Funi dub, only snips of it here and there.
I hope my Cell was close enough to the original :D

And we are comfortable because we are good real life friends I guess :P
And your comments, god, thank you so much! I actually felt like we could have kept going for another hour simply working with your comments and suggestions.

All feedback is appreciated, especially negative because it will give me a chance to adapt the show for the better.

Right... This episode was a bit of a cluster fuck.
I want to say sorry about Zykar, he had a bit of a rough week and wasn't at 100% but he still tried!
I went on air a bit late and stay for longer than we should.
We had a total crowd of two people, both friends of Zykar, which left mid-show. None of my friends came and none of you guys. So... That was a bit of sad times :c

Besides everything I enjoyed my part and I hope you will too if you go check it out.

Yeah we are partly to blame for that since the pilot episode aired in a Saturday, but it is supposed to go on air every Friday.

Maybe we said that, we kept getting confused with the day and time. We nearly aired at 22:00 last week, I actually ran home to try and make it at 22:00 when Zykar told me it's supposed to be at 23:00. So... Sorry, our bad ^^'

But please tell us if you prefer either Friday or Saturday. The hours are the latest we can get, we cannot push it later than that. If you are all okay with Friday, that is what is going to be for good.

The first post has been altered to explain how the show works. I think I've covered everything but please let me know if I missed anything or if anyone still has doubts on something.
