PS4 isn't backwards compatible but it'll probably stream old PS1/PS2/PS3 via the Gaikai which will cost money, because nothing's for free.
Xbox One does allow to play used games but with a fee, apparently. Xbox One isn't really intended for the gamers but casual/families and entertainment device fanatics, as it's an all in one box. Although, Microsoft did announce that they have 15 exclusive games and 8 new IPs incoming, that'll all be revealed on E3.
Valve's Piston / Steambox will cost like $999.99, yeah good luck staying in the market with that price.
Actually I think, like the PS3, the PS4 will be able to play PS1 games. But no it won't play PS3 games(though I'm not sure about digital games) They are also going to be providing a streaming service for PS3/2/and 1. Honestly there isn't a whole lot being said about it right now but that's what's floating around. Gaikai will probably be included in Plus, which honestly is pretty fair. They might offer something for non-Plus users; like register your purchased PS3 games and stream them for free.
But this subject hasn't been talked about a lot. Outside of that, basic online will still be free. That means online matches and basically the same service plans you see now for the PS3 will remain how they are. I
still can't believe Live isn't going to offer a free basic service like Sony, Steam, and Nintendo. Today, that's just inexcusable.
In any case we should probably move away from new console discussion because I'm pretty sure this new game is going nowhere near the PS4 and...
sigh Xbox One.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?
