I just hope it's a proper remaster. That'd make me happy.

Interesting.

I imagine Funimation are past their moronic days of the Orange Bricks especially considering the huge vocal outburst from the community...although, if the community is made up of YouTubers then perhaps they think they can get away with it - again.

I mean, the Orange bricks are getting on a bit now, I'm sure they understand that people buy Blu-Rays because they're interested in the best visual quality that accurately represents the original show. I so hope that's the case because if it's not, then they really need to rethink their business practice. It's nearly 2014, this should be common practice now.

yay!

I'm interested in what the poll results were. Would be cool to get Japanese title cards as well. But either way, keeping my level blu rays and hope to get the whole series on bluray!

Looking forward to seeing the promotional material for this release... even if the remastering isn't amazing, as long as it's 4:3, it should be all cool.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

My day. It has been made.
So much Dragon Ball Z aha.
The Battle of Z game, the J Stars crossover game, the Battle of Gods Blu-ray and now the season sets on Blu-ray.
I can't wait!

Oh! This is going to be interesting. :) I can't imagine the series looking much better than the Dragon-boxes or the Level sets...When will enough be enough? until were actually flying with our heroes lol :P but we'll see..maybe this will be a fantastic release! I would love to own the entire series of Z on Blu-ray but they gotta meet me halfway and make it worth my while.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Except with less anger. :)

Damn it, Funimation, I was just about to go all in and snatch up the remaining season sets since I thought I'd never be able to own the full series in another way.

Oh, and Dragon Boxes...where are they?

It's like they are using any HD masters from Toei. I'm going to wait until Toei makes their own HD masters and have Funi uses those HD prints instead.

they better make this on the same quality that the Dragon boxes were made, if not better... when they released that survey, i gave them a small piece of my mind on how they made a big mistake by discontinuing the Dragon Boxes, and screwing the fans over with the orange bricks.

frustration will be an understatement if they screw us over again

In fairness, it wasn't a sudden decisions to discontinue them. They announced initially that it would be a limited edition kind of deal. It's also important to keep in mind that even that descision could have been a condition that Toei demanded, since they were reportedly extremely reluctant to let FUNimation release the Dragon Boxes.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

If we're lucky it's the same process but just more refined.
Seriously hope this actually get's a full release and the other 2 follow suite, don't care for GT but give dragon ball a blu-ray release.

And as for the quality I actually preferred FUNis blu-rays to the dragon boxes.

I liked them over the dragon box as well, video wise.

One thing I do wonder is if they're gonna do grain removal since a lot of reviews commented that the Blu Rays had too much grain, especially 1.1.

That would cost time and money, the grain is part of the video.

I have an idea on why they're giving it another shot:

Didn't Funimation say in a panel that they would get the rights to Battle of Gods in 2014? It's possible that they're trying to get public interest up by releasing the show on Blu-Ray. And since Blu-Ray is the standard of today, it makes sense they'd go with Blu-Ray.

I didn't bother with the last Blu-Ray releases. I thought the Funi DBZ blu-ray movie releases look meh. I rather have Toei do their HD versions first.

Maybe they just noticed it's really inconvenient for us fans to buy 20 sets of Blu-Rays, so they're condensing it into fewer amount of sets.

I'm actually not too sure how many 'Level' sets there was suppose to be but I assume it was a lot

If Toei did their own Blu-Rays of the Dragon Boxes then I wonder if Funi will end up picking the HD prints to those? Since next year is the 30th anniversary, I think Toei will likely give us new home video releases of the show and movies. I don't think it will be that hard for Toei to restore a nearly 25 year old show on Blu-Ray?

Gonna side with Mike on this one. I am very scared to see what FUNi is going to do with this.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.
