Japanese bands often have awesome/quirky/funny names. If I remember correctly, the name of the band that did the first opening for Fullmetal Alchemist was a band named "Porno Graffiti."
Yep, that's correct, haha! I'm assuming it's the 'English sounds cool' thing going on. Naming a few bands that have English sounding names off the top of my head; Flow, Nightmare, Wands, Field of View, Linked Horizon, etc. I'm assuming they named themselves Good Morning America since it would sound catchy. I'm surprised they haven't run into copyright trouble with the name.

Quickly looking them up on YouTube, here's what some of their songs sound like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RA3Z6PuZGc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8wM35s0B9c
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQJtWuLhtlA

I'm assuming it's more of a GT thing where it's random songs rather than it being Dragon Ball centric.

TheBlackPaladin wrote:So...two quick questions:

1) Is this "Haikei, Tsuratsusutora" song by Good Morning America out yet?
2) Was it written specifically for Kai, or is Toei pulling a GT in the sense that they're just gonna take popular songs with lyrics that sort of/vaguely/not really apply to Dragon Ball and slap them on as songs?
1) No, it isn't yet.
2) We don't know yet, but it seems to be the latter to me considering that the title has nothing to do with Dragon Ball.

Almost everyone on that image was drawn individually and then arranged into the positions they're in for the full image.

So the song may have only some very vague connection to Dragon Ball, huh?
But wasn't it already the case with Wings of the Heart, the ending to the Cell saga for Kai? They didn't mention specific characters or technics, just an ability to fly (without specifically mentionning the Buku Jutsu), and the song was meant to be a single aside from the Dragon Ball franchise, with fans of the group being able to choose it as a "non-Dragon Ball" by choosing the single cover that doesn't show anything Dragon Ball (except maybe a line saying "the opening to the show Dragon Ball Kai"?).

The title, "Goodbye, [name of a philosopher]" would make me think of a theme like "keep your mind simple, let's say goodbye to philosophy, stop being complicated and have simple and genuine fun", not unlike Cha-La Head-Cha-La's "an empty head means more place for dreams".

So we'll see, but I do think the song can be a stand-alone song that is not "Dragon Ball related" for those uninterested by the franchise, but also that lyrics could also be considered to apply to the Dragon Ball spirit as well.
Given the release date of the single, I guess the first time we hear it we'll be in the show itself, before it even starts to hit radio stations.

Like everyone else said, GT did this, and it's not uncommon in terms of modern series to do this. Even less than that; it's mostly the norm.

Yeah but GT gave us Dan Dan so it all balances out.

Ultimately, I prefer songs that were written for specific shows, because I think that's more fitting. However, I don't mind popular songs being used either...I've actually become a fan of a few J-rock bands by being introduced to them through anime.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I'd rather the song has something to do with DB, although I admit that the only thing I like about GT is its OP and EDs
"Giving up is something we can do anytime, so let's head on, even if it's just a little bit!"

It may just be the placement of the creases on his pants, but it almost seems like we can see the outline of Vegeta's underwear in this picture. He's suffering from visible panty line

Some were wondering about the copyright issues of the band name "Good Morning America". Based on past examples in anime history, it's possible the band name could be edited in the credits of any American release. The series "Bastard!" used the names of heavy metal bands for place names/attack names, but the American release spelled the names differently to avoid copyright issues: for example, instead of Metallicana (obviously based on Metallica) they used the straight up katakana-ized Metarikana (unrecognizable as being similar to the band name to English speakers). So something could be taken out of the name (maybe just call them Good Morning) or it could be abbreviated (GMA...though the morning show is also referred to as such), but it's likely they'll alter it somehow in America.

I'm excited about the announcement that they'll be changing the ending songs each quarter. If it's true they're having 4 different endings, it gives us an idea of how long the series might run (maybe they're shooting for one year, so with breaks for holidays/specials, 49 or 50 episodes?) Even if the songs don't end up being great, at least we'll get new ending animation to enjoy every few months :D

Might just be dreaming but any chance Toei will animate the updated ending that was done for the 20th anniversary of Dragon Ball for Kai?

Though it is a little bit of a tease that just gets you hyped up for more Dragon Ball...

I assume you're talking about the kanzenban ending with Oob being given the kintoun, right? If so, I dunno how likely it really is that they'll animate that, but I really hope they do. It'd be awesome to finally get that in animated form.

Yeah do they look like stickers, seems like the same's happening again (Battle of Z filled with 3 Gokus and other stickers).

I honestly thought that was Super Saiyan Adult Gohan rather than Goku because it just looks so samey to me.

Edit: Just noticed Gohan's on the right. :P

It's natural that a composite image would lack depth. It appears to have been done intentionally for versatility of use in web design and other promotional material.

It would have been nice to have a proper group shot, although we may yet well see one in the coming weeks. If you remember back to when Battle of Gods was first announced, there was that composite image of Piccolo, Krillin, Trunks, Goten and Gohan that came out before anything else.

Interestingly enough, that image actually had nothing to do at all with the production involved in making the movie. Krillin was totally re-designed in the end, and hardly featured on screen.

I thought so too. It looks incredibly Gohan-like.

^ I don't know if we usually get new Kai artwork that is not composed other than for the covers of CDs.

And since then, re-reading the article, I realized it's NOT "Goodbye" but "Dear"...
Where did I even pick up "goodbye"?! Well, that throws my theory out through the window, unless it becomes "dear [name of a philosopher], we'd rather have simple, dreamy minds instead of thinking of philosophy".

Wait guys, four different endings means four different "next episode preview" variations, right?
Plus as usual orchestral versions of the opening song (which means new orchestral versions of Dragon Soul by the new composer if it's still Dragon Soul, and you can check on Battle of Gods what he already did with Cha-La Head-Cha-La's variations).

All the more exciting to discover all of this!

Do we actually know that there are going to be 4 different endings here? To me, it seems they only said that this next song would only be for the first quarter (I'm guessing up until Babidi shows up). When it comes to anime, nobody's really fair about how many episodes a song gets featured in. The original DBZ had one ending used for over 2 thirds of the series, after all. If the former were the case, I'd be glad, though. :D I really like it when shows change something in their openings and endings, otherwise they start to get old after a while..... Lookin' at you, Miracle Zenkai Power / Summon Up the Dragon.....
