Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
It would be cool if they put the dragon box movies on blu ray. But if they only put them on dvd, Id be fine with that.
It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
DB
* Collection Part 1 (yet to purchase Collection Part 2)
* Films 1-4
DBZ
* Dragon Box Z 1-7
* Bardock & Trunks TV-Specials
* Films 1-13 (still need 3, 5, 12)
DBGT
* GT Singles (repackaged as Collection Part 1 & 2)
* GT TV-Special
The only things I really need are just the Specials of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z which to this day still remain without an official FUNimation release.
I could just purchase Goku & Friends Return!! Special from Japan but I don't like when it doesn't include English subtitles (if DBE didn't had English subs on the R2J copy I might've not bought it).
By the way, to be honest I'm really happy with the Dragon Ball Saga sets and even though they're missing the NEPs (+ OP2) I'm actually okay with it just this time so for me I've found my alternate release for the Dragon Box: Dragon Ball.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
Yeah I don't have a problem with the quality of the Blue Season Sets or the Green Season sets. But Z....let's not talk about that. LOL I don't know if I'd want Dragonball Dragon-boxes on Blu-ray? I'm kinda 50/50 on that one. I really like the packaging of the Z Dragon-boxes and I'm afraid we couldn't get that with a Blu-ray release? Also is Blu-ray even getting OUT THERE like mainstream now? A-lot of my friends just say they don't care that much about the quality Blu-ray can give they'd rather just watch the movie and that's that.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

As you know the packaging of the US Dragon Box Z isn't very good, sure each box has its own Dragon Book but my outer boxes weren't glued properly and have the paper flip flopping.samuraix123 wrote:Yeah I don't have a problem with the quality of the Blue Season Sets or the Green Season sets. I also screwed up the rear of my Dragon Box Vol. 3 because I ripped out that stupid pamphlet but had it been now I'd have used a hair dryer to soften up the glue. Oh well I can't go back in time.
Blu-ray should be the standard media disc format nowadays due to being the HD era but with Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, iTunes, Xbox Video and other video streaming services it's hard to compete with them since they offer an instant stream service of thousands if not millions of films/series. DVD is still preferably cheaper although videophiles tend to go for BD.

Yeah. I got mine second hand and I've had pretty much no issues with the packaging.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
Well, Season 5 is coming out June 24th so you're probably somewhat on target for these predictions.dbboxkaifan wrote:Season 5 - June 2014
Season 6 - August 2014
Season 7 - October 2014
Season 8 - December 2014
Season 9 - February 2015
I think it'll be released within each of these months.
I was hoping for 2015 to be cleared off the Season BDs but there was that delay.

I have a strong feeling that they are going to finish these by the end of the year. It may even be as soon as October if they keep up the monthly trend that they are currently on.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
My intial thought. Is that they want it all out so when they release the Buu saga Kai it won't be confusing.
If they continue to release it monthly then October S9 will be released so expect November for Kai on BD/DVD
I honestly don't think a new release of Z is going to come. Maybe DB and or GT on BD with a similar remastering as the new Z BD's.
I wish they would release Fairy Tail monthly too.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
Yeah I finish the part in 2 days (6eps a day) and then got an almost 2 month wait. Just finished the 6 episode of Part 9 lol. Argh! Need to pace myself now haha!!rs_chaosmaster wrote:I second that fairytail monthly would be awesome but i think that season 9 will be november with a release alongside part 9 of Z Kai!!!
Sadly, I can't find a good price for Yamamoto(sp) Kai. Guess it's back to the season sets. Since I haven't heard the original score I guess it doesn't affect me, the replacement score that is. Needles to say pretty pumped for Buu Saga Kai!

I guess this prediction is more accurate and then by 2015 they'd have time to release the 7th release of Dragon Ball Z.Freeza Soldier #156 wrote:I'm thinking it's going to be more like this:

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
I kind of just have the feeling that they are pumping out the BD's because...they can. They want these out as fast as possible and they know they are selling quite well thus far so why not just release them almost every month?
And that frees them up for future DBZ and non-DBZ releases as well. Best to get their holy grail out of the way so they can focus on some other less "worthy" projects. Just my thinking though.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
I kind of agree with this, but for a slightly different reason. One of the reasons that there are multi-month gaps between releases is to build anticipation. Back in the day, when FUNimation first started releasing DBZ with their singles, that was literally the only way to legally own the show and the only way to own the dub. Once you finished watching the latest release and you were left on that cliffhanger, that was it. I remember not being able to wait the 3+ months between releases to see what happened next. It forced me to run out on release day to buy the next volume. With DBZ, that just doesn't exist anymore. Most of the people buying these releases have already seen the entire series in one form or another. Even if someone is experiencing the series for the first time with these Blu-rays, there is no real anticipation for the next release because there is a multitude of ways to own and watch the series at this point. I think it's less "they can" and more "they sorta have to." If they took their sweet time with these releases, people would lose interest pretty quick and just find another way to watch the show (orange bricks, etc.) This is what I think, anyway.RocktheDragon wrote:I kind of just have the feeling that they are pumping out the BD's because...they can. Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
Well, Rock the Dragon Edition is more or less a collection of its own despite that they were out previously except this contains the "uncut" dub and edited 3rd film.
It's a really cool collectible to own and glad FUNimation released it as I'd never have bothered with the Singles.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
Great point! I really think that is part of the answer as well. The long breaks are no longer needed and might actually be more of a detriment! If all the season's are out then I'd assume it would give a buyer more pressure to buy more seasons at a time. But you can't do that if they aren't all out yet.Freeza Soldier #156 wrote:I kind of agree with this, but for a slightly different reason. Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
If they have the finished product ready to be release then publish it but don't rush an incomplete flawed product which needs to be improved, it just so happens with many games (Aliens Colonial Marines) and series/films (Tom & Jerry Golden Vol. 2) on BD/DVD out there that deserved to be polished more. And then there's that the breaks they give should be at least for a month or more because not everyone can shell out money quickly for entertainment even though they'd want to.RocktheDragon wrote:Great point!
