On the GT dub Feist said once "Majin Boo" rather than "Bu Bu" but putting this aside it was all dubtitles, I think.
It's called being consistent with past work.

Quebaz, are you denying that the Portuguese dubs were by any chance good? That's like saying FUNimation's Z dub was actually decent, which it wasn't.

Even if the Portuguese dub was terrible, I still find that international dubs end up doing more good than bad. They allow people to become (arguably) more interested in DB than if it was merely available in just Japanese. People can thus decide for themselves if they want to keep watching their dub version or switch over to the Japanese. International dubs, whether good or bad, help create a better global presence for Dragon Ball. I wouldn't want to see any international dub be ripped out of existence. But that's just me.

And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

Not trying to derail the thread, as it really isn't about the Portuguese dub (heck, we could really create a thread just for it!), but I'm pretty sure Quebaz is just saying your post was a bit overboard.
I mean, it's true the dub is pretty bad (except for GT, whose main faults are a few voice inconsistencies - mainly on the characters voiced by Chi-chi's voice actor - though Z had them too; and the narrator going completely overboard from a certain point on), going to the point of being "so bad it's good" (like when Vegeta's third voice actor lampshades the amount of voice changes the character had), but that's no reason for wanting it to be forgotten forever...

Pretty much this. I'll be the first to make fun of the dub, but like RockTheDragon said, it's what got me into the Japanese side of things (tough Budokai 1 helped a lot) and at worst, It's enjoyable to listen to.
(Also, I so support the Narrator going overboard by the middle of the Baby saga, It fit so well with the plot and made some NEPS fun to listen to even tho their scripts were a little...awful.).

Very well said!
I can't imagine living in a world where the Latin American dub of Dragon Ball doesn't exist. It's the reason a lot of my relatives and friends in Mexico even have anything to do with the series, and I have so many fond memories of watching DB and DBZ in Mexico as well.

omegalucas wrote:"Akira Toriyama said the Portuguese opening of GT is the best in the world, even better than the Japanese." - random Portuguese DB fan on Youtube.
Ain't even gonna say anything

Wasn't expecting opening the first video of a Portuguese opening of Z and finding it (especially when I wasn't even looking for it) but... here ya go:
"Dragon Ball's creator said the Portuguese opening was one of the best he had heard."
Wasn't exactly what I said but close enough (and I'm pretty sure there are more comments like this one on other videos).

RockTheDragon, by quality standards a lot of dubs don't make it to the point of being good but yes in the regard that they made the franchise popular they sure did.
The only dubs which were great were (either for accuracy or voice acting - Latin Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Catalán and the "Ocean Dub" (especially the films 1-3).
I don't care how popular something is if it lacks quality.

An argument of which is the correct name to call him which lasted for 14 pages.. I couldn't careless what his name is any of the four spellings (Birus, Beerus, Bills, Beers) seem to be usable but just get the film out on BD/DVD already, FOX/FUNimation.
If it were English subtitled I'd have just imported the damn DVD from Japan already but sadly it isn't (DBE R2J had English subs).

Then that is their choice. I wouldn't argue with them, unless they start bashing Kikuchi and Tokunaga and claiming that faulconer is god.
It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

Incidentally, what's your stance if someone prefers Yamamoto's score?

They're in their right there to be criticising them if they don't like them, after all, it's their opinion against yours.
I personally wouldn't criticise anyone's work just because it's old unless it was unpleasant (to their ears it might).

Yeah that's fair enough, others can like what they like. I won't stop anyone from liking faulconer, really don't care anymore to be honest.

My YouTube
Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

And really shitty taste. There's enough people who claim to have no nostalgia for the show that come out with nonsense like that.
