Favorite Pre-BoG Movie?
Discuss.
P.S. Mine is probably Movie 10. It has my 4 favorite characters (not Broly lmao) and the fight scenes are decent. I haven't seen Movies 2, 3, 4, 7, 11, and 12.
Edit after watching 2, 3, and 12: 12 is my new favorite by far. 5, 10, 12, and 13 are the only ones that actually stand out to me.

Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

Re: Favorite Pre-BoG Movie?
10th Anniversary Movie- It's how I prefer to watch the start of the series, plus the animation is just "WOW". Great way to spend 80 minutes, even if it does get a little boring at times. I actually managed to get my friends to watch it and they enjoyed it, too!
Others include DBZ Movies 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 12 &. 13.

DB or DBZ? Seen a lot of love for both of them, actually.dodge2461 wrote:My favorite is movie 2.
Assuming you're talking about Z, that's very interesting! Mind explaining why? I really like the animation style in that one, but I usually find the movie quite boring. Not a fan of Kikuchi's score in it, either. I actually watch it in English most of the time- for nostalgia, if nothing else.Polyphase Avatron wrote:Movie 4. I also like 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 12.

It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! We take joy in trying to exceed our grasp, in trying to reach for something that in the end, we have to admit may in fact be unreachable!"
Re: Favorite Pre-BoG Movie?
Well, I like the ones which have enough plot to justify all the fighting. To me, that's 1 ,2, maybe 3, 12 and 13. I think my favourite is probably 13.
Oh, but if we're including Dragon Ball then Path to Power wins.

Path to Power and Fusion Reborn are my favorites. I didn't like most of the script for Wrath of the Dragon.
Cooler's Revenge and Tree of Might stood out to me for the fights.
The Ocean dub of The World's Strongest is pretty great, too. Dem sound effects.

Re: Favorite Pre-BoG Movie?
Movie 1 is fantastic, great soundtrack and animation. Easily the best DragonBall Z film. Movie's 5 & 8 are also good. If we're counting DragonBall era films then Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle is my favorite film in the whole franchise. I absolutely adore that film

Broly's first movie and Wrath of the Dragon.
And they are still better than Battle of Gods for me.

Re: Favorite Pre-BoG Movie?
I'm going to need to rewatch a lot of the movies - but it might be Wrath of the Dragon, after warming up to it. It's the most movie feeling movie, even more-so than Battle of Gods.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Even with BoG included, Bojack Unbound is still my all time favourite
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Re: Favorite Pre-BoG Movie?
The dead zone(Ocean version) is probably my number 1 pick. I really like Cooler's Revenge, Lord Slug, Fusion Reborn. I don't really have nothing against any of the movies. I'm not a big fan of the return of cooler.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
