At least Vegerot is technically correct.

I don't think it's his first name. I think "Mark" is his full name. Don't remember the exact quote, but didn't Videl make a comment about how it was weird that Gohan had a family name?KentalSSJ6 wrote:Aside from that, didn't Toriyama go on to say Mr. Satan's first name is Mark?dan2026 wrote:Why would Toriyama approve H-ercule, that makes no sense.

More likely he doesn't know or care how they translate the English version and just signed off on whatever it was they wanted. Viz just make weird decisions sometimes though. (Like the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga using dub names when the original Yu-Gi-Oh! didn't.)Luso Saiyan wrote:Maybe the censorship problem was explained to him and he chose an alternative name whose logic western audience could easily understand?dan2026 wrote:Why would Toriyama approve H-ercule, that makes no sense.
Re: Viz's Print Edition of the "Full Colour Comics" Discussi
Didn't Eiichiro Oda approve all the edits 4Kids made to One Piece? If that Viz blurb is true, I think you can chalk it up to the Japanese side really not giving a shit, and if changes have to be made so their product will sell overseas, they're fine with it. Toriyama even said in the deluge of Battle of Gods interviews that he, as a creator, does not care one iota if his work is changed at all.

No, she does literally mention that it's weird that he has a family name. Which is what helped her connect him to Goku.garnetjester wrote:I think Videl just thought his name was weird because the guy is named RiceAnd then she was suspicious that his last name was Son just like Goku's.
Re: Viz's Print Edition of the "Full Colour Comics" Discussi
They're going to HAVE to bring back "Satan", because "Satan City" will be in the artwork, so people can't just go around saying "Herculopolis". Then again, they did include "see the original Dragon Ball comics for more information" or whatever it was...

Finished Vol. 2 of the Saiyan arc today and I can't wait for the third one to be released. I really liked the high quality and full-sized pictures of the characters, this pretty much offers not only Z's story but also awesome designs to appreciate.
I really hope we get the Freeza arc, Cell arc and Majin Boo arc volumes too I'm willing to buy them too.

Nothing as of yet but if you want a response from Viz Media then post your question on their Facebook page and wait for them to reply.nicolas_3d wrote:Any news from Viz Media on wether or not they will release other full color comics beyond the saiyan arc??? Thanks

If Viz does cancel the Full Colour mangas by the Saiyan arc then I'm done with Viz.

The more, the better.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Re: Viz's Print Edition of the "Full Colour Comics" Discussi
Toriyama had to have cared at one point...the reason VIZ started publishing manga right to left instead of flipped was because Toriyama said he wouldn't let them publish Dragon Ball if they flopped it.

Re: Viz's Print Edition of the "Full Colour Comics" Discussi
Actually, I'm pretty sure it was because of the success of their unflopped release of the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga that Viz started to publish more and more manga unflopped.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.
Re: Viz's Print Edition of the "Full Colour Comics" Discussi
Yeah, their older stuff like the Rumiko Takahashi manga (Mermaid Saga, Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha) are all flipped.

I've heard that many times, but I still haven't seen the source. It seems unlikely to me that Oda allowed it. If it's true, I think that he may have signed a contract why basically said "Do whatever you want. I don't care".B wrote:Didn't Eiichiro Oda approve all the edits 4Kids made to One Piece?

I did it a while ago and this was their response:
Viz Media wrote:Well, this is actually a project originating in Japan. We like the full color volumes a lot, but it's not up to us to decide how many are created.

The original Spanish release (weekly issues) was flipped, and it was released again and even made into Tankobons long before we had an unflipped release.Puto wrote:Bullshit— the original French release was flopped and nobody forbade that.Payne222 wrote:Toriyama had to have cared at one point...the reason VIZ started publishing manga right to left instead of flipped was because Toriyama said he wouldn't let them publish Dragon Ball if they flopped it.
So yeah, I agree with the word Puto starts his post with.
Btw, Puto, did you choose your username for any particular reason, or is it just for English-speaking forums?
