Still though. Matter-of-factly concluding that the movie is bad because the "carefully selected montage of portions of the movie" doesn't look appealing is different from saying "it's probably bad".

From what we know at this moment in time, only claiming the latter is justifiable, not the former. You can't safely conclude anything beyond a "probably" without actually seeing it.

Rocketman purported the former, despite only having justification for the latter. That's the point of contention here.

Rocketman is speculating on what he has available, which is something significant (trailer). I don't think we need to go around always saying "imo", "probably" and so on when such things are rather obvious in context. And I'm sure that Rocketman would love to be proven wrong and love the movie.

I understand that now. I'm just saying, it never hurts to fully clarify one's point (particularly when it takes just one word to do so), especially on a topic as heated as this movie is becoming. Just because something may seem obvious to one person, it won't seem obvious to others. Communication then becomes tedious when a page and a half is spent painfully gaining mutual clarity when one extra word in the initial post would have done that same job.

And by like, I mean is.
So by your logic, if I read the first five pages of A Storm of Swords, and don't find anything compelling, then the rest of the book is bound to be shit.

You really see everything a glass half empty, Rocketman. :|
No. It's like if you read several pages from various points of A Storm of Swords specifically selected to give you an idea of the plot, characters and tone, then read the back blurb, then read two preview chapters, then read a plot summary, and then decided that you didn't like it on any level.
Also it would be more than five pages. That'd be 0.5% of the content in A Storm of Swords, and I'm pretty sure the two trailers we got have more than 0.5% of this movie's content.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I've seen some really shitty trailers and then the movie turns out to be amazing. I've viewed fascinating trailers and found the movie to be shit. At least watch half the movie and see if it grabs your attention you may be surprised.

To be fair, the BoG trailers were all misleading, and the movie ended up being nothing like what I expected.

Yeah, that.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Seeing as how anime (and live action Japanese) movie trailers suck in general I certainly wouldnt view it as any kind of indication of how the film will actually turn out.

I thought BoG was going to be awful but it actually turned out to be pretty damn enjoyable. I watched it on a shared viewing program with several other people who all agreed. I hope RoF can live up to be the same.
