Vegeta's safety is not more important than the whole universe. Goku can grit his teeth, say he's sorry to Vegeta, Bluma and Trunks, and then go boom. If Vegeta falls to the attack, sobeit. But there's always a chance being a part of Buu would keep him safe for when the Majin heals.

Pretty sure Goku just wants to create an opening and retreat. There's no way he can destroy Buu from the inside.

That was when Buu was breathing down his neck. Plus if he can't blast his way out, how is he going to kill Buu.

Basically, instead of using something that actually took advantage of how rubbery Buu's body is, like a powerful energy blast, or a Destructo Disk-like technique, or something like what Dai Kaioshin did, he used only melee attacks instead, which is basically the least effective thing you could possibly do to someone like Buu.

Heck, if he had used any techniques like that, Buu's body might have been destroyed enough to allow Goku to escape. And Goku probably would have survived even if such a blast hit him, considering how weak Kibito is.

Let's be honest, canon Buu Saga everyone was holding the idiot ball in some form or fashion. I suppose even the Multiverse follows that, though man it is irritating to see. Still, better than the Future Majin Attack.

It seems like Goku will be going the sacrifice route and blow himself up in hopes to take Buu with him.

The only time we've seen Goku hit a pose like this in the original Manga was to power up against Cell. But since he's fully powered up, he either seems to be readying an all-direction blast (like Piccolo and Vegeta have used) or preparing to self-destruct. The latter doesn't seem like something Goku would do, though.

Hm. Actually, if Goku self destructs here it WOULD have one consequence -- he'd be the one character Buu never absorbs and has influencing him.
