Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
Recently, a video from a stage show has been uploaded on YouTube. It's "Dragon Ball GT Show" held at a department store in Sendai, Japan in 1997. And in it, Freeza and Cell appear with a new form that we've never seen in any other media!
Oh stage shows. Always introducing special, unique only to you forms and characters! The designs are kinda silly (WHAT IS THE BELTS ON FREEZA'S CHEST FOR?!) but in their own way they're charming. Though maybe Mad Max Freeza could tone the rape face down a little...

Going on hiatus. Too much stuff in RL to deal with for me to keep up with posts here for now. Was fun, hope you all have a nice day and future! Volt signing off.

7 do I hear 7 times they've brought back Freeza now .
Though I'm curious to the plot of this story, how they're back, why they look so different, and how it ends cause the vid ended before the play did.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
WTF happened to Freeza? Cell doesn't look horrible or anything, but Freeza looks like a some sort of punk/cueball hybrid trainer class with a Pokemon mask. xD

That's honestly what I'm thinking. These were alternate forms for Freeza and Cell in GT exclusively.

Well according to Kei it was a GT stageshow. Usually stageshows develop things exclusive to it for the purpose of drawing in viewers, such as forms or characters. It's actually really common, specially with Kamen Rider Stageshows. These forms most likely would have never showed up in the actual GT series and only be known in this stageshow. It's like how in the Kamen Rider Faiz Stageshows, we got Kamen riders Alpha, Beta and Gamma but they're never seen in the show, mentioned or referenced at all. (Mostly cause stageshows occur very late in a series or once it's over.) I actually never knew DB did stageshows...it's...kinda neat.

Wasn't there one for Kai a few years back that featured Broly?

I don't know. This is the first I've heard of a Dragon Ball stageshow. But I think I may go and look for a few now, see what they're like cause I've watched a few of the kamen rider stageshows and those are a blast.

The Ginyu Force arc and Great Saiyaman arc is the closest DBZ will get to in regards to being a Tokusatsu series.

I actually kinda like the Freeza form. Though not so much as a Freeza form, more as a "this is another member of Freeza's race" kind of thing. Would be kinda neat to see one of them wear clothes that aren't just the standard armor (and sometimes a cape) for once. XD
Fukkatsu no F.C We'll show you our further evolution, He-man-Freeza wearing Buu belt and Perfect pants Cell These designs would be cool to draw on paper.
