If they're going to explore the 12 universes then it needs to be long so it won't feel rushed.

I hope Toriyama shows the old guard some love, if anything make them moral support and pseudo mentors for the new characters I'm sure we might get.

I'm kinda expecting Goku to hit this point where he goes the way of Heisei era Godzilla, where he gets so powerful that he goes critical mass and explodes or perhaps Alphamon from Digimon who is so absurdly powerful he actually cannot exist in the regular digital world without overloading it to the point of collapse ala Megidramon.

Eh I think they're kinda screwed. The humans haven't been allowed to do anything of real worth in a long time. I haven't seen Frontier, but I hear a similar example is when all the kids give their spirit power things to only two of them, so then everyone but these two kids suck now.

Meh he'll be brought back with the Dragon Balls, and then get even stronger next time.

But wouldn't him reaching critical mass and exploding count as a natural death? I don't think he can be wished back from that cause he died due to his own power. Either way we'll have to wait and see how Super handles all this.

I don't think so if we compare it to Majin Vegeta self destructing. Maybe it's different from that, but this is muthafuckin Goku, he'll find a way to come back on top somehow.

Does Toei plan for series that long though? Outside of manga adaptions like One Piece that go until they're unprofitable like Toriko, I can't see it. It's a money and sponsors and ratings and merch sales.

Actually, that's an interesting point that was mentioned...maybe the purpose of this series is to explore the rest of the twelve universes?

Maybe they felt a movie format wasn't enough to fully explore such a concept, and they needed a longer story, hence a full series?

The whole "maybe there are enemies stronger than Buu and Frieza" statement even lines up nicely with what was said in BoG about "maybe there are even stronger fighters in other universes".

(I mean, this is assuming that Super is gonna follow up on BoG/RF, which while fairly likely isn't certain at this point.)

Agreed! I'm hoping people like Yamcha, Krillin and Tenshinhan can get in on the fun as well.

I guess its a lost cause for Yamcha, unfortunately! With ROF we reached the point where Roshi is more useful than him.
His character just keeps going down. He finally would have the chance to kick some asses (Freeza soldiers) and Toriyama just cut his legs.

I'd certainly love for Pikkon to make an appearance in DBS. But I agree, it would be difficult to find a way at fitting him in the story.

I'd certainly love for Paikuhan to make an appearance in DBS. But I agree, it would be difficult to find a way at fitting him in the story.

To be fair, it could be done with a wish by goku. King Kai says he needs to come back because his planet's in danger or something. He could have been training all this time too, and 10 years of peace+the time between Cell and end of Buu is a better excuse. (By that I mean training for years vs 4 months)

If Masako Nozawa's comments reflect the intentions of TOEI animation, then they plan for the series to go on for a long time and for it to be as big as its predecessor, so unless it's an abysmal failure, I would say we should expect at least 200 episodes. And fans seem to be really hungry for new Dragon Ball material right now... both new movies have been successful, Heroes is doing well, and merch is selling, so I find the chances of it failing to be pretty slim.

I wonder if we'll have any news in Weekly Shonen Jump next week?. I really hope we get some clarification on when the series will be set.
I hope it's not End of Z, I really would prefer it to be just after "F". With the press release stating it takes place after Goku defeats Majin Buu, just like the press announcement for BoG, I believe it will be within the 10 years between Manga chapters 517 & 518.

Honestly I don't see it as being End of Z because we'd get less Goku/Vegeta that way and I don't know if that's what they're going for (I don't think so). In any case, I really hope it could be that timeframe, because that way I might be able to have Pan as a main character kicking some butt.

I wouldn't mind new characters, just make them interesting. And I hope there's a girl somewhere in the new gen of Z warriors because a female SSJ is long overdue.
