I think anyone's CAC's in Xenoverse is the only thing with more possible strength gains than Freeza perhaps.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Forgive me for trying to cut to the essence of the matter, but do we really need to act surprised that having Freeza train for four months is really simply Toriyama making up an explanation after the fact? Yes, it's a sorry in-story excuse for Toriyama to tell a story he is enthused to tell. Toriyama doesn't want to age characters too much while also throwing in a reference to the importance of the number 'four' in the story. I think that sort of speaks for itself. There's no point at the end of the tunnel, it's just unchanging facts.
This is the same attitude that gave us the original Dragon Ball comic, nothing has changed. Folks can try to hold Toriyama to a higher standard all they like, but the fact is he doesn't give a shit and neither do the other hundreds of people making this film.

I've just taken to making temporary use of the 'foe list'. If I see irrational negativity or mindless, off-topic posts, I just add the user to the list and be on my way. Once the film's out and their complaints actually have some validity, I'll clear the list out. It just saves me the headache of having to scroll through paragraphs on paragraphs of stuff I have zero interest in.Chuquita wrote:While it's not a solution, I've found scrolling past the B Type posts when I see them coming helps.
I think KaiserNeko has been the first person to speculate about this training rationally. Taking it from a character-focused point of view rather than one about power level + time correlation is definitely the right way of going about this. Toriyama very clearly cares more about expanding on characters and telling his story than adhering to what fans perceive as rock solid, unbendable continuity. He's not exactly a groundbreaking writer who really cares for this kinda thing.
Apparently scanlators like to bend continuity, though. This made me laugh far too much. Anime Labs takes on the Fukkatsu no F manga!

I'm well aware of Dragonball being Dragonball in JPN. But I'm not understanding you. I said Goku haven't beaten anyone major since Freeza. Freeza came after Piccolo. What about beating Piccolo in a manga known as dragonball, and was always called Dragonball In japan.
My point that's it's getting tiring to see Goku beaten and it'll be refreshing to see Goku save the day instead of being a main event jobber.
All-Star Goku!(Comic nerds get the reference).

how about we let someone other then the son family do that for once, instead of giving everything to Goku's loser family.

Gokuu's original line is 'baka yarou', so 'stupid' and some insulting word does fit. The lack of the 'er' on 'fuck' does annoy me, though! I personally prefer 'stupid bastard', since that fits the number of syllables and is a little easier to say in the company of certain parties, but whatever.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Apparently scanlators like to bend continuity, though. The problem is that it could have easily been a much better presented excuse. If Freeza simply didn't know he had that much potential, if he never imagined that he could gain such power with hard training (since his family never had to do hard training), and he discovered it in the movie or someone told him and he confirmed it after a little training, the excuse for Freeza being this powerful would have been WAY better.JulieYBM wrote:Forgive me for trying to cut to the essence of the matter, but do we really need to act surprised that having Freeza train for four months is really simply Toriyama making up an explanation after the fact? Since it would have been so easy to make it so much better, it ends up being really disappointing.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Yeah, I get that, but 'fuck' or 'fucker' really doesn't fit the context. It's a nonsense translation that ignores the personality of the character speaking. It also ignores the audience that the manga is aimed at. It's not entirely wrong but it's clearly someone's terrible attempt to age-up the series. The entire translation is littered with similar, excessive profanities.JulieYBM wrote:Gokuu's original line is 'baka yarou', so 'stupid' and some insulting word does fit. I can think of a few different ideas, too, but that doesn't mean I don't know to temper my expectations regarding Toriyama. Shit, Freeza could've been revived a year after Cell's defeat and trained from there on, but that is not what is happening.
I don't see why Gokuu can't use the word 'fuck[er]' if he can use bastard, 'yarou' or beat the sense out of folks violently. Dragon Ball might be a comic for kids, but I don't think the use of 'fuck[er]' is any more an issue than the fact that we've just seen Freeza sawed into multiple pieces with blood abound.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Yeah, I get that, but 'fuck' or 'fucker' really doesn't fit the context. Its ok, I still think he defeated Buu with the help of everyone.TheGmGoken wrote: I did read it. And I gave you response. Goku still didn't beat or kill anyone 1v1. Hell he barely played a role in killing Boo.
Vegeta gave the idea
Dense summon Dragon
Satan gave motivation
Earth gave energy.
Goku was just the carrier. He's like a seahorse.
but yeah, if you're talking about him beating someone with his own strength then its only Piccolo, Freeza and Yakon.
Do you mean these kind of explosions:FortuneSSJ wrote:Bring the popcorns and enjoy the explosions, because there's no way everyone will like it.Bullza wrote:One week to go until Freeza's new form is officially revealed.

Would not Freeza's new form appear in Dragon Ball: Zenkai Battle Royale? I think this time they really want to hold on a bit. Well, with Zenkai Battle Royale and maybe Heroes, we might see his new form sooner than we think.

Don't remember, but I do remember Super Saiyan God being revealed one week sooner in Heroes and Zenkai Battle Royale.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Bastard is a pretty far cry away from 'fucker'. As I'm sure you know, 'bakayarō' isn't exactly the harshest thing in the world. It's generally just translated as 'idiot', 'fool' or 'bastard' at its harshest. You'd be looking at 'kusottare' or 'kusoyarō' if 'fucker' was to be used accurately, I feel. I don't see anyone with serious translation experience deeming it acceptable but maybe Herms or SaiyaJedi can chime in here.JulieYBM wrote:I don't see why Gokuu can't use the word 'fuck[er]' if he can use bastard, 'yarou' or beat the sense out of folks violently. Again, I just feel like context and character is important. Violence is a product of its time and that's something we've seen from the censorship in Kai and Viz's releases. Goku isn't a foul-mouthed sailor, he talks strongly at times but 'fuck' is, at least for me, a very far cry from the character. Vegeta, maybe? Goku, absolutely not.

They just made the translation more dirty because they thought it would be more badass. That's how old fan translations always have been for DBZ.

Back in the '90s, I used to buy bootlegged subbed DBZ VHS tapes. The subtitles contained so many curse words, I thought that's how the script in the original Japanese version actually was. lol.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Indeed. I kinda gave up on them after read Episode of Bardock, just can't see Bardock speaking "fucking".DieHard wrote:That's Mangastream for you! They always add lots of swear word!
EDIT: I confused them with "mangareader". I don't know if they are the same, though...
