Vegeta is one of the cheapest and easiest characters to use. Freeza is difficult tho, for whatever reason. His Death Ball... ALWAYS misses.

I would give this game a 6 or a 7 at best. It isn't a masterpiece but it can be really fun.

Do people like, press [] over and over again?

"Yeah bro, combat is super shallow, I picked 3 characters, pressed [] 5 times and got a dumb combo, where are the mechanics?"mysticboy wrote:Do people like, press [] over and over again?
"But did you actually try to press other buttons or string the moves together?"
"Lol no bro, this game sucks"
Granted this will always be an issue with Arena Fighters because there's not multiple buttons of individualized attacks that need to be used in conjuction with its d-pad to realize all the special moves and combos. Even Smash Bros. suffers from the above mindset form time to time.

It's pretty much the reason why I didn't bother picking it up again, I'd already bought the Original Japanese version and got bored really quickly.

It did include the custom BGM mode though, which is something more games should have.

Been a while since I posted here, but I've still been playing the game off and on, and am now on the Toriko/Goku/Zebra story route, which just leaves the Ichigo/Oga & Baby Beel/Hiei one after that.
Right now though I'm working on doing some of the Korin's Tower Challenge fights, and good lord...these things are freakin' brutal. I've only managed to win four of the ten I need to for that trophy so far.

I'm finally playing of copy of the game on PS4! I wish there was more music from each of the series, especially Dragon Ball. I'd love to play this game set to some of my favorite Kikuchi Shunsuke pieces.
I haven't played as Son Gokuu, Vegeta or Freeza much. I'm mostly sticking to Seiya, which is funny given how often I come across Ichigo in the story mode. I wish there was more original interaction dialogue recorded by the voice actors, too. A game like this is ripe for camaraderie!

I managed to get the game a while ago while it was on sale for about $15 or so, thought it was worth the price! Fun little game to pass the time every now and again. The only Dragon Ball character I really enjoy using is Goku. Arale isn't a Dragon Ball character (crossovers aside), but she's really fun to use as well! I haven't unlocked all of the characters yet, but Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho is probably my favorite thus far. I do kind of wish his Ultimate was a little better though. I can't really use Freeza at all, not sure why! Just not a fan of how he plays, I suppose.

Is there any chance that we will get a sequel because I really enjoy this game. Maybe do Shonen Jump vs. Young Jump next since Shueisha owns both. If that can't work, they could do some Young Jump characters for DLC like Saitama and Genos since they would fit perfectly in J Stars.

Good question. Makes me wonder how well J stars Victory VS did well in general. Despite some flaws and a lot of negative comments it gets, I enjoyed the game a lot.

I would really enjoy it if they made a sequel with some Shaman King characters or SK Flowers. I heard Yoh was supposed to be DLC.
