Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I think it would be awesome to see DB again on TV. Even if its the twilight of Television and there are even rumors Disney wants to get rid of ALL their TV channel including ABC (!!!) but I would love to see it. I can see it in Paraguay where Dragon Ball is on two major channels, but I would love to see it for the USA.

If Super is so unpopular with fans, why do so many fans want it to return?

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Nerdy Dragon Ball fans (usually all cishet men) acting like the 'gymbro' ruins the fandom is honestly really insufferable.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Gymbro is also such a broad term.
A gymbro can be anything from
Those dudes who start lifting in the hopes of getting laid, find out getting buff doesn't get you laid and they still can't relate to women so they turn to blaming feminism/lgbt acceptance/communism/socialism/insert thing a right wing YouTuber told them to hate on their inability to talk to women. Unironically still use words like alpha and beta and sigma.
Dudes who are probably on the spectrum with a special interest in diet and fitness. Won't be able to talk to you about much outside of your macros and protein intake and what not but are completely harmless
Dudes who usually get into fitness for mental health reasons, are all about that male solidarity in the positive sense (most likely calls other men King), tend to have more progressive/open minded views towards women and minorities.

Yeah, it's not really ever clearly defined as being the actual reason why these people are supposedly worthy of scorn. It just sounds like a bunch of mudslinging from, I don't know, self-identified nerds who aren't into the gym or something?MasenkoHA wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 5:24 pmGymbro is also such a broad term.

I dunno, I just think the pot shouldn't be calling the kettle black.

I like both GT and what we've seen of Daima so far, and wouldn't ever want one to replace the other.
In the long run, both are gonna have an important place in the Dragon Ball chronicles and appear together in games and other tributes to the series.

The Fu Lum were a cool design and I'd love to see an anime-styled one appear, even if it was just for a video game or whatever.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Let's be real, the types of fans who whine about wanting to see more macho stuff in Dragon Ball probably don't really go to the gym regularly, if ever. They're more likely to just be immature boys.

Probably not, yeah. I really feel like all of these 'types' of fans are really nebulously defined, too, so the discussion usually just reads as flinging feces and screaming at the walls.PurestEvil wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 2:04 pmLet's be real, the types of fans who whine about wanting to see more macho stuff in Dragon Ball probably don't really go to the gym regularly, if ever. Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Dragon Ball Daima is better idea than anything like seeing Moro or Frieza recolored to black being animated.
I really hope we won't see anyone turn SSJ for entire series and we will see more adventures and classic fights that focus on technique instead of everyone just screaming and changing colors for entire series.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I seriously don't understand why Black Frieza is so hyped by this fandom.
He is literally just Golden Frieza 2.0. How is "Black Frieza" as a concept in any way different from Golden Frieza?
I'm probably one of the few people on the internet who genuinely does not care about Black Frieza at all.
So when I see people say "Nooo I wanted Black Frieza arc instead of Dragon Ball Daima!", I genuinely don't feel anything. Black Frieza arc sounds like RoF 2.0 and nothing more.
It's kind of funny how RoF is regularly considered to be one of the worst storylines from modern DBS (even a recent thread on this forum had most people place RoF either at or near the bottom), yet you will see people everywhere on Youtube/Reddit begging to have an arc about Black Frieza which would literally just be RoF 2.0.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Transformations are just tools to progress character arcs and try new things. Black Freeza's strength—other than being a cool design—is that with that development we have a new opportunity to develop Freeza and other characters. As such, all that remains is having the courage to use 'Black Freeza' as a concept to achieve a greater goal. Unfortunately, Toriyama seems unwilling to take full advantage of most of the decisions that he makes and possibilities that he opens up, and the other creative minds involved in the franchise often simply handcuff themselves to Toriyama for fear of actually doing anything.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
-Sorry, I wasn't meant making bad things, despite exterminating worlds, being killed twice, offered twice a redemption chance, talked to GODS and seen Hell. I just need more development.-
-Ok, take this Sentzu...-
-No Goku, you sh- (Crilin blowing up)
-Aha, I evolved into Black Frieza, that's stronger than the stronger being of the Unverse!-
-Who, Granola?-.
-No, he was just the stronger. I'm the stronger above the strongest of the stronger, the memorable Gas.-
-Gas? Who's Gas? Anyway, how you can become the stronger, if Gas asked to the spheres to be the greatest and you shown up in ten minutes?-
-I've trained.-
-For ten minutes?.
-Stop arguing and let's fight!-
-Take this tool to progress the character arc! SSGSS interiorized but with the bangs of SSJ2!-
-Take mine tool to progress the character arc! Black Frieza + Golden Experience first stage!-
-Oh no, it's really stronga! Vegeta what we can do?-
-Take my tool to progress the character arc! Purple UE plus Blue Evolved third stage!.
.Uhuhuh, very stronga. Let's check your powa!-
ONE punch and ONE beam later.
-Oh, very stronga, but I own an ace in my deck. Check the next tool to progress the character arc! Black Black Frieza Golden Golden!-
-Muaaaah, how stronga, his character arc really progressed onward! Let's fuse Vegeta!-
-RETCON FUUUUUUSION!-
-Ehehehe, now pale about this new progress to our character arcs! Super UEI GOGETA SSGSSUIUE!!-
-Argh, you're a beast, you advanced so far in your character arc!-
ONE BEAM LATER
-Gah, I'm quite dead, still I didn't mean to harm anyone. Who's Crilin? Who's Planet Earth? Who's those people?I just tortured ChiChi to death 'cause I wasn't progressing in my character arc enough.-
-Ok, ok, I've understood, take this Senzu-
-Ahaha, you messed up! I'm evil! Still need development!-
.Oh, let's start over again. Vegeta, have you some character arc progress still left to spare?-
-Just a pair of tools.-
-Enough. let's wait for the Deus Ex of this plot and continue to progress our character arcs, in the meanwhile.-
Deus ex, comedy moment, Toyotaro coming with another random enemy from the deck.
I learned english listening to songs. So I don't know anything about. The day you had to learn play piano by just listening .mp3, you'll understand.

When used in this context, "gymbro" just means "people who like Dragon Ball for what made Z so popular in the first place."MasenkoHA wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 5:24 pmGymbro is also such a broad term.

Frieza is just a generic pure evil villain, what kind of development or progression could he possibly have?JulieYBM wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 5:07 pm Transformations are just tools to progress character arcs and try new things. He is a villain who, as per his own admission, doesn't care about being evil even when the Gods/Saiyans threaten him that they'll kill him if he continues being evil.
The peak of whatever character development Frieza could have had was in the ToP arc, when Frieza mellowed out and put his existence on the line to help the Saiyans. Since then, Frieza has just regressed to his DBZ days.
Black Frieza is just nostalgia bait. It's no secret that the Namek saga is one of the most iconic/beloved/nostalgic arcs of the Dragon Ball franchise, so the writers just keep Frieza around to cash in on the nostalgia of most of the fanbase (middle-aged and with very fond memories of early DBZ). It's obvious that they don't actually know what to do with him, which is why Frieza hasn't done anything since he unveiled his new form in August 2022.
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
To steelman that perspective for a moment, I think it's more like "people who like Dragon Ball for what made Z so popular in the first place and actively reject Dragon Ball whenever it's not like Z". The stereotype is that these fans only care about the fights and edginess and act like Dragon Ball isn't worth watching when it's not in hardcore action mode.ZeroNeonix wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 10:55 pm When used in this context, "gymbro" just means "people who like Dragon Ball for what made Z so popular in the first place."
